This is one of the greats of all time. Hitchcock called it his best film. Suspense, intrigue, tension. Carey Grant making it all work. A great cast. Good settings. An all-time great!

1) It cannot be a knockoff, because it was made before Monty Python even existed. 2) This should be near the top of the list - it is one of the greatest movies and the greatest dark comedy of all time. 3) Instead of stating stupid stuff like,"overrated" or the like, tell us why the movies you like should be on the list.

Field Of Dreams [1989] Report Abuse
165 points - added 14 years ago by pandora - 4 comments
Comments:
What could have been a good movie is ruined by historical inaccuracies. Shoeless Joe Jackson was a shy, illiterate country bumpkin who looked up to Ty Cobb and could not wait to see his friend when the Tigers came to town, not at all what was portrayed in the movie. Cobb was loved by his fellow players.

Of course, you are quite entitled to express your opinions, bazeba, but you are also quite wrong. Field of Dreams is generally regarded as one of the finest movies of its time which was a delightful adult fantasy. Superb movie!

It's one of those things that was a great idea when it came out, but this, and all of the Disney films that used simmilar techniques, will end up being dismissed as being cheesy retarded "fantasy" films against the likes of Potter, Rings and Narnia. Unless of course Robert Zemeckis decides to do a sequel.
Added 13 years ago by guest, 0 points Vote + to improve this comment's ranking Vote - to decrease this comment's ranking
Lord of the Rings is a totally different genre. This is a fun film, with amazing performances, great special effects from before computer generated effects, and very funny lines. It involved multiple studios and was nothing short of a commercial success. Comparing it to the newer movies from a different genre that take themselves too seriously isn't a fair comparison. This is a wonderful movie and stands the test of time.

It was definatly something when it came out. But in these post Lord of the Rings days, this fantasy film ends up being quite cheesy and flamboyant.

This is the greatest films of all time. It was great then and it is great now. The performances for actors working with air where animated characters were later added are still outstanding, unequaled.

An enthralling and compelling movie, which at times is violent yet also quite poignant. A masterpiece of cinematography!

Why the negative comment? I thought the idea was to give the reasons FOR the ones you like, not to be snide. You might not like the genre, but maybe you might want to give it a try. This was an inspiring, fun movie.
