The Third Man
Orson Welles and Joseph Cotton, with Valli as the love interest, were superb against the backdrop of wartorn Vienna. The zither music of Anton Karas set the tone for this black and white dark drama. The chase in the vast sewer system beneath the streets is a master class in photography, as is the lonely walk down a country road by Valli at the end as she passes Joseph Cotton without a glance.

Mississippi Burning
It's an amazing movie, although hard to watch because of the cruelty that is revealed that actually happened in 1964. Some artistic license and they changed the names of the characters, but a fact-based story and a good movie.

That's quite a claim. I never saw what the big deal was with Spencer. The only notable thing about him was that a character from Pixar's Up was modelled after him.

Lord of the Rings (trilogy)
A great realisation of the book.
I put it in as a trilogy as you cant really separate the 3 films.
Also, some idiots seem to have put many votes against it - It might not be the best film(s) ever made, it might be overhyped, but many ppl really go for it.

Sir William Wallace, Since his death, Wallace has obtained an iconic status far beyond his homeland. He is the protagonist of the 15th century epic poem The Acts and Deeds of Sir William Wallace, Knight of Elderslie, by Blind Harry. The poem is near entirely fictional, describing him adopting the disguises of a monk, an old woman, and a potter while a fugitive; and travelling to France to enlist support for the Scottish cause, there defeating two French champions as well as a lion.

Unforgivingly bad history so inaccurate that it blows away any redeeming qualities the movie might have. It was portrayed as a historical film, but should have been sold as a fantasy script.

Masterpiece. The subliminal narrative is more complex than any I have so far encountered. The amount of thought that must have gone into it is astonishing, even for Kubrick. Possibly the greatest film of all time. Look deeper, people.
