Red, by great polish filmmaker Krzysztof Kieślowski, is about fraternity, which it examines by showing characters whose lives gradually become closely interconnected, with bonds forming between two characters who appear to have little in common. The film has been nominated for 3 Oscars.

Age of innocence
A beautiful understated version of Edith Wharton's novel, directed by Martin Scorcese with excellent performances from Daniel Day Lewis, Michelle Pfeiffer and Winona Ryder. The 1870s New York settings (although shot in Paris,France) capture the period so well.
