Experts have said that nicotine is more addicting that heroine. However, after 72 hours the nicotine is out of your system the rest is a mind game between you and the cigarette.

When quitting smoking I found it helpful to set a quit date. I made sure that I had no cigarettes or lighters in the house and placed the ashtrays in the garage for any quest who smoked. I also took this time to buy things for my goodie bag.

If you do not want to try cold turkey get, some type quit aid. There are several on the market. Lozenges, gum, nicotine patches and prescription medicines as well.

If you normally wake up and drink coffee and smoke try something different sit in a different chair drink juice. If you generally smoke after you eat, take a walk instead.

Keep a goodie bag on hand. Everyone is different so purchase things that work for you. Some examples are sugar free gum, sugar free candy; many people find it helpful to hold a straw or pencil in their hands.

Studies show that many smokers try up to six times before they succeed at quitting. Do not use this as an excuse to smoke but do remember you are human and DO NOT GIVE UP.

Are you going to let that cigarette control you or are you going to control it? Think it doesn’t control you think again what do you do after you eat, what do you do when you wake up, what do you do after sex, what do you do at break time at work no matter how cold it is outside?

When we were kids and fell off our bikes we got right back on so if you, slip and smoke a cigarette do not beat yourself up move on.

Take it one day at a time looking ahead can make it appear as though you are losing something when you are actually gaining something. Looking ahead can also make it seem as if the stop smoking process is never going to end.
