David Thompson Report Abuse
NC State. Big influence on MJ himself.
74 points - added 13 years ago by plink - 2 comments
Comments:
Thompson was unstopable. He led state to an overall 79-7 record and national title. His 27 points per game avg. and defense over three seasons was second to none. If state could have played in the 73' tournament, Thompson would have ended UCLA's dominance then.

Jordan was a great player but he wasn't nearly as good as he was in the NBA. The 82' title that UNC won was because of Worthy. The Jordan led teams in 83' and 84' didn't even make the Final Four. A lot of that was because Smith held him back.
