Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb Report Abuse
This black comedy from Stanley Kubrick deals with the cold war and potential nuclear holocaust. When a paranoid U.S. general takes control of his own military base, convinced that "commies" are trying to steal the bodily fluids of red-blooded Americans he becomes obsessed with trying to bomb the Soviet Union. While not laugh out loud funny, this extremely clever movie stays with you long after you've viewed it, making you question the absurdity of the human race.

The Graduate (1967) Report Abuse
This film is one of those films that is amazing to watch. Not just because of the great performances by the staff, or the engaging story line, but also the way all of the aspects of the film work together: cast, script, direction, and a sountrack by Simon and Garfunkel. It's all just perfect. Dustin Hoffman plays a grad student who is seduced by an older woman, who happens to be a married friend of the family. After his affair with Mrs. Robinson, he is set up on a date with her daughter. Although reluctant at first, Hoffman's character falls in love with her, and then must deal with the consequences.

Yellow Submarine (1968) Report Abuse
While The Beatles were involved in several full-length films, it can be argued that most of them really weren't very good films. However, Yellow Submarine really was a groundbreaking animated film, bringing The Beatles' songs to life with trippy psychedelic animation.

Easy Rider (1969) Report Abuse
This is truly one of the most quintessential 60s films, capturing the spirit of the era. The characters, plot, music, and cinematography all come together to create a movie that really embodies the feeling of the freedom of the 1960s. Peter Fonda, Dennis Hopper, and Jack Nicholson all give superb performances, and the shocking ending of this movie will haunt you for years to come.
