Best Games for the Old School Nintendo NES

This game was amazingly addictive. I spent hours and hours playing it during my childhood. Fireballs, flying turtles, man-eating plants, secret warp zones. This game really started it all.

This classic fantasy action game spawned what is probably the biggest video game series ever.

Does anyone remember the movie The Wizard, staring a young Fred Savage? This movie was actually a thinly veiled 90 minute commercial for Super Mario Brothers 3. This game was so exciting when it came out ... you went from point to point along a board game like map gathering various powers, matching cards, getting stars, and battling your way through huge flying ships. Awesome.

Ah, Tetris. Who doesn't want to spend hours on end making random shapes fit together while listening to Russian inspired music? Classic.

Even if you weren't a fan of the cartoon, this game was super fun. Each turtle had their own distinct fight style ... I preferred Donatello.

I wasn't a HUGE fan of this game, but it's the first game that I remember than had the ability to save your game using a password. High tech, no?

While this game isn't quite as fun to play as Super Mario Brothers 1 and 3, Super Mario Brothers 2 did have some things going for it. First, you could choose your character. Second, there was the opportunity to ride on a flying carpet. And third, it was pretty damned trippy to look at.
