21 items ranked

It's easy to hate on Disney, but if you think about it, they truly revolutionized the animation, as well as legitimizing full-length animated films.

A Christmas Carol Report Abuse
With an all star cast including Jim Carrey, Colin Firth, Bob Hoskins, Gary Oldman and Robin Wright Penn, this motion capture animation, from the director of The Polar Express and Beowulf Robert Zemeckis, is a must see for every holiday season. Zemeckis previously stated that A Christmas Carol is one of his favourite stories dealing with time travel.

Aladdin Report Abuse
Disney has often made many failed attempts at humor, but thanks to Robin Williams, this movie is actually hilarious. And there's a good story too about Aladdin trying to become a prince so that he can marry princess Jasmin.

The Little Mermaid Report Abuse
For some reason this story really tugs at the heart strings. A young mermaid longs to get more out of life, assuming that things are better outside of the ocean. Add to that a fantastic original soundtrack and you have a fine Disney film.

Pinnochio Report Abuse
While many of the older Disney films have a slower pace than today's typical animated film, there is something so charming about this sleepy little film. Pinocchio will make you laugh and it will make you cry, as you watch the quest of young puppet trying to become a boy.

Toy Story Report Abuse
I think all the Toy Story films are great, but I definitely prefer the first one. This heartwarming story of what toys do when their owners aren't around is a great lesson in friendship and loyalty.

Up Report Abuse
It isn't often that I cry within the first five minutes of a film, but the opening sequence to this movie was so well done that it grabbed an emotional hold on the viewer almost instantly.

Dumbo Report Abuse
So there's some controversy around this film about whether or not the portrayal of the crows is racist (which is probably is), this is still a pretty good film. There's nothing more heartbreaking than the scene when Dumbo visits his mother who has been separated from him.

Fantasia Report Abuse
This movie is just stunning. And it's a bold move for a business that typically relies on child audiences to make a film that couple animation with classical music masterpieces. Although it's only 90 minutes, there is some patience required to get through the entire movie in one sitting, but each segment is so beautiful and creative, it's definitely worth it.

Ratatouille Report Abuse
This Oscar winning movie is both brilliant and funny, and teaches a nice little lesson about the importance of eating good foods. (not necessarily nutritious foods, just good foods) It is about a rat called Remy who is sick of just dining on garbage and instead would like to realize his dream of becoming a French chef. Of course, chaos ensues when he finally gets himself into the kitchen of a top French restaurant.

Wall-E Report Abuse
There are scenes in this movie that will make you cry over the loneliness felt by machines, and leave you disgusted with the human race. What is amazing about this film is how it so effectively conveys not only a great story, but deep emotion without a lot of dialogue.
