There's a tiny town the inhabitants don’t even know if the outside world still exists, or was destroyed by the young child who controls everything. The inhabitants live in constant fear, and do everything they can to please him. A mindreader, they must all smile and think happy thoughts, or else they will suffer horrific consequences.

Burgess Meredith stars as a man who only wants to be left alone in piece and quiet. During his lunch break at the bank, he sneaks into the vault to read, the only pleasure he has. After a massive tremor, he awakes to find himself the only living person on Earth. He wanders the wasteland and contemplates suicide, until he finds his nirvana: a library. Overjoyed at finally having “time enough at last” to read, he trips and falls and shatters his glasses. Oh the irony.

William Shatner plays a man recovering from a mental breakdown, insisting he sees a gremlin on the wings of an airplane. Of course no one else seems to see the creature which is now destroying the plane. Is he going mad again? Or is what he seeing real?

After a night of drinking, a married couple wakes up in a sleepy suburban town, unaware of exactly where they are or how they got there. As they explore their surroundings they realize that the entire town is abandoned, with no signs of life anywhere. Frightened, they try to escape the town, only to find that escape is impossible, and their fates are in the hands of an unknown being.
