Lott made the pro bowl at all 3 defensive back positions--cornerback, free safety, and strong safety. He was an all pro at cornerback as well as free safety.

Comparisons between Krause and Housten are not apt because Housten's career was defined at strong safety while Krause was a free safety. Also Krause played only 4 years in Washington; he's remembered as a Viking, playing 12 years there.

Wow. All time interception leader and he's not even in the top 20? Who the hell votes on this page?
Added 13 years ago by guest, 0 points Vote + to improve this comment's ranking Vote - to decrease this comment's ranking
There's something fishy going on on this page.First some idiot with no real footballl knowledge knocks Krause down with some dubious method of making more votes than you're supposed to be able to tally at one time, then another idiot does the same and puts Krause at #1. He's top ten maybe only tenth. Not 33rd.

I don't think he's number 1 either. But I know he doesn't ever get the credit he deserves.
Added 13 years ago by guest, 0 points Vote + to improve this comment's ranking Vote - to decrease this comment's ranking
Interceptions are not the only criteria for the best Defensive Back. Mr. Krause never won a Super Bowl. He wasn't even the best Safety that the Redskins have had. Ken Houston was named to 1970 All Decade Team over Krause. Plus Houston was on the 75 Anniversary Team had 4 more All Pro Selection and is higher on the all time Redskin rating. Krause is top 10 material but not number 1
Added 13 years ago by gc91, 5 points Vote + to improve this comment's ranking Vote - to decrease this comment's ranking
81 interceptions. the ball has to be thrown before you even have a chance to intercept it and he was playing when they threw a heck of a lot less than they do today.

with a name like primetime.....you know he was the real deal! people are judging him because he is outspoken and flashy, but the guy can simply play, only guy to get open on him was Jerry Rice(he was pretty good). his job was to cover. and allow the safety to his side to roam free and support the run. #16 is a discrace to his ability and what he did for every corner to follow him

Im 49 years old, I have never in my life seen a CB shut down an entire side of the field, ever. I get it, a lot of people don't like the guy, he is still the best cover corner that ever played, period.

Deon should definately be in top 5. The only corner I've seen to shut down his whole side of field. I agree he has less int's simply bc QB's were scared to throw his way.... PERIOD!!!!

You got to be kidding me...Top 5 guy hands down. Whoever left the comment about his stats is probably 17yrs old and never saw him play. First "shutdown corner", quarterbacks simply didn't throw to his side of the field. Not to mention biggest playmaker of his time (other than Barry Sanders).
