"Rio Bravo" was John Wayne's response to "High Noon", a movie that he publicly ridiculed for its portrayal of a "weak and indecisive" lawman. The lawman portrayed by Wayne in "Rio Bravo" is the exact opposite of that played by Gary Cooper in "High Noon". Quentin Tarantino has said that "Rio Bravo" is his favorite movie, and that he has watched it "hundreds" of times.
