Another truly outstanding western in which mob rule is vividly depicted in this memorable movie about a lynch mob taking the law into its own hands. Superb!

THat movie has a flaw. Coop is begging even the weak men to help him. How desperate this is. He ahould have asked in general and the real men, and then shut his mouth and fight. His wife is more courageous than he. BUT this film shows also one major thing which makes US cinema so outsanding. Unlimited self-criticism and relentless honesty. Compare this with the propagandist film culture of most other nations!

My favorite. Cooper was matchless in this one. Great score, too.

Not like coop in high noon, the Duke here is asking only professionals, even if they are handicapped. He does not want to endanger amateurs to fight the gangsters. He is strong as a man must be.
