I agree with the latest comment. You abide by the law and you're safe. We don't whip; we cane criminals and it is a good law as it keeps the number of crimes at a decent rate. But I can't say the same about the racism though. Chinese comes first. Blegh.

To clarify the below: They whip people by caning them. I know someone from Singapore. He comes to visit the UK after staying with his family in Singapore and he behaves in a controlled way, then he goes crazy since he can't cope with living in a country where he is free to do what he likes without risk of being caned and having his skin removed for literally anything. I guess it's safe as long as you don't do anything wrong by mistake, so I'd advise to read the laws of the country first before going there, just in case.

Singapore does have the death penalty and caning but that's why it's such a safe country. It's very clean and they stick to their laws

I've give a comment to demonstrate my concerns about Zurich. The last time I went there, I went for a bike ride in a park next to a glacial river, thinking I was going for a nice peaceful bike ride, and instead the park was full of half-dead zombified junkies. That was quite frightening to me and the friend I was with actually. I was later told that park is called heroin park, and that Zurich is full of a large amount of junkies who use Zurich's wealth to beg from the general population to feed their habits.

I live in Vancouver west side. All three of my children were born here and we love it. My children have never been asked to do drugs there schools are safe. The people above probable live in the suburbs or east side of Vancouver. Surrey BC has gangs and drugs and so does some of the downtown. It is very expensive to buy a home here. I would only move if I was going out of country! I love Vancouver!!! I have lived here for 16 years.

Seriously? I work and live in this area and can only say hah! There is so much gang/drug violence in our neighborhoods and in our schools. There is lack of employment and gas prices are at an all time high causing more and more pump and dash situations. The only one's making any money are the politicians and the drug dealers. Yes, we have free healthcare but you might die before you are seen by anyone and can expect to wait in a coffee shop for emergency services at the local hospitals. If you need a specialist, a CT or MRI scan, or surgery such as knee and hip replacement you will wait 6 months to 2 years. So think twice about moving here a lot of people are running away. Last but not least first time home buyers expect to put 20% down and buy an old heap in need of repairs for about $500,000 IF the banks approve you. Most people will rent for the rest of their lives if they haven't purchased by now.

Yep, totally agree!... If this was 2005, but it's NOT. The crime rate has increased to the standards of some of the worst cities in America... The Danish biker gangs and immigrant gangs have inflicted much damage to the society. Denmark, or Copenhagen at least, is no longer compatible to their old reputation, unfortunately.

I've lived in Sydney my whole life and never encountered crime. Although it's not officially the most expensive city to live in in the world - the crime is pretty low and you are safe in most areas.

If you are a white tourist, people here will treat you nicely but if you are an Asians like Indonesians / Filipino chinese will treat you as Housemaid, Gardener or a car driver.

What a huge mistake. Auckland pales in comparison to Wellington (the actual Capital of New Zealand) in every way. Of all the citiesI have lived in, Auckland is the worst by far. However Welllington is the very best city I have lived in.

I'd contradict the comments below. The UK is full of crime. People get mugged and are at risk of random violence if they walk around certain areas at certain times of the night all the time, and their cars broken into all the time, and that's across the country. People who are foreign get beaten up on street corners frequently just for speaking a foreign language if they are out at the wrong time of the night. I wouldn't consider the UK a safe country, unless you live in a really remote place where everyone knows each other and even then that's not a guarantee of safety since you never know because you can get some even more crazy people when they live in remote areas. Otherwise I wouldn't be looking at this website, since I live in the UK. Likewise, English people really don't like Americans that much, unless they are people they know and trust after getting to know them over a long period of time. Most Americans who come to the UK and go round as tourists are really annoying and really loud and and a source of either irritation or comedic value as a result. Most English consider Americans as people who always try to take over and don't respect other people's right to live in peace, so most English people don't like them that much as a result, in particular when they are in large groups then they are really annoying. That's from someone who lives in Oxford, a tourist destination place, frequently subject to large groups of irritating people who can come from generally anywhere not just the USA.

Crime may be high in Liverpool but it's even higher in London. You can hardly move in London from all the tourists crammed around you, and there's constantly police and ambulance sirens blazing. CLIMATE IS NOT GOOD! British weather is full of rain. Liverpool may be full of gangs but the crime rate is nothing compared to London.

From what I know of Dubai from people who live there, there is strict control, but at the same time, massive problems from corruption of the Egyptian and Russian mafia who control the brothels in hotels owned by the Egyptian hotel owners who will threaten to kill you and your family if you even attempt to film or document what's going on to report them to the police, and Dubai across the Middle East, is reputed to be one of the world's hot-spots of double-deals taking place, in particular for money-laundering from the US, when they want to do under the table deals with Iran.

Try to visit Iloilo City... one of the safest place to visit and live. Clean progressive city and it is 15 minutes away to the beautiful beach of Guimaras island, 2 hours away to a beautiful paradise of Isla Higastes Island in Carles, Iloilo and 5 hours away to Boracay Island. People are very loving and hospitable plus the luscious food should never be missed.

You people are just talking about Metro Manila. You do realize that there's a place here in the Philippines named Davao City? Davao is definitely (one of) the safest city and most peaceful in the country. It has one of the lowest crime rates in the country. And before you disagree about this fact just because Davao is in Mindanao, well think again. The terrorism, bombings, and kidnappings in Mindanao that you watched, read, and heard nowadays only happened in Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi and they're so damn far away from Davao.

im living in the Philippines,. certainly its not really safe in here. the place is nice, beaches, tourist spots are really beautiful. but crimes...a big no..no..to safety then.

It is a very beautifull country! I can say number 1 in my list for the land scape and cristal clear ocean! But the coruption and holdups, kidnaping and murders that you can see every day on the TV it is very clear that is not safe at all! Not for travellers from abroad! So be aware!

Fast growing city economy outside of London. The waterfront is a world heritage site. The Mersey is Europe's 3rd cleanest river and has excellent salmon, cod, grey and common seal, bottlenose dolphin and porpoise populations. Fist city outside of London to receive a English Heritage Blue Plaque. Some of you need some severe education.

Liverpool, runs to the rythm of the river, it is fast unpredictable, hard drinking, hard signing and living for the moment. A scouser will give you his last pennie, and terribly loyal which also hits the other polar when threatend.

Liverpool is an awful town. The residents speak as if their noses are blocked, and almost all of them are worthless scallywags who are persistently confrontational, uneducated, and prone to antisocial behaviour and crime.
