Books, Of Course!
With all of the tech toys out there, Wii and the video games, for example ... we grownups have all but stopped reading to our children and grandchildren. Books need no batteries, are free at the library, and there are wonderful websites online where even the most reluctant reader can and will enjoy reading. One of my favorite websites, Barking Spiders Poetry for Children, has funny poetry, short stories, and tongue twisters (remember those?) that kids will love. I know my kids do. Reading is a fading childhood activity ... ask any teacher.
