The struggle of a homeless man down on his luck, thinking dirty thoughts and chasin them away. He needs help to start his life again. But you need to listen to this song. Enjoy it for what it is. A great song with powerful guitar riffs and great vocals.

This song really broke pearl jam into mainstream music, similar to what smells like teen spirit did for nirvana. It was so over played in the 90's many people hear it and turn the channel. I can still enjoy the song but I can't let it into my top ten.

When I first heard the studio version of this song, I didn't love it. But when I heard the band play it live, it grew on me more and more until now it almost hits my top ten.

If you've ever seen a live Pearl Jam song, you know this is their signature song. They end almost every show with it. The song might be called a B Side or whatever you want to call it. I say it's the single greatest song in the history of music. I could listen to it right now. In fact I think I will. (pressing play)

This cover song has special meaning to me. My dad used to sing me the original when I was a kid. Pearl Jam was my favorite group as a teenager/young adult and the first time I ever heard their cover of this song was on the way home from my dad's funeral. It stuck with me like a message from the grave - some magic message from my dad. I have a hard time not making it number one but that belongs to a better song. My sentimental feelings about Last Kiss have always made it one of my favorite songs to sing to my kids. But I sing Eddie Vedders' version. Not the original.

This has to be one of my favorite tracks, but I guess I'm in the minority. Doesn't matter - it's my list. If you can listen to this without jamming out and banging your head, you are not a real Pearl Jam Fan.

This is a rare song where the lyrics really make you think and it sends a message about how relationships work. She lies and says she still loves him. Because she can't find a better man. She puts up with him and his crap - because she's settling. She dreams about someone better but for now....

This is a trippy song with a bluesy feel to it, but it is certainly the best song on "no code." The lyrics are pretty weird, not making much sense, but alot of pearl jam songs have that in common.
