This is actually good binding time - especially if your kid is between 9-13 years old. They haven't gotten too good to talk to you, but they will some day soon.

This one can get expenisive, but if you make them pack their raincoat, they will enjoy the movie enough to make you think it's worth it.

For this one, you have to have the materials in hand ahead of time, but it can be a cool project, especially for father and son.

The worst part about rainy days is they are stuck inside to play by themselves. If you join to play with them - they avoid that part and enjoy their day more. And you just might enjoy it too.

Write a Story Together
Go around the table in a circle, kid/mom/kid/dad/kid, or some similar set up. Have each member makeup one sentence and then pass to the next person. With 4 or 5 people adding different sentences, it's cool to see where the story goes. Don't set a limit to when the story ends, just wait till it naturally gets to the end.
Then the next person in the circle gets to makeup the first sentence of the next story.
