Yes, historians say so, but the Turks still deny it. Everybody in Turkey who says so, is punished and legally persecuted. That is why Turkey is not fit for the EU

Bengal Famine of 1943 Report Abuse
3 million people died from starvation and malnutrition due to man made famine. British army stored all grains in anticipation of Japanese invasion and exported food to allied forces in Middle east and Europe while local population starved. Amartya Sen (a Bengali) won Noble price in economics for welfare economics based on researching this famine, argues that there are no famines in democracy. He also pointed out that rice production in Bengal was higher in 1942 and 1943 vs. 1941 when there was no famine. Since Indian independance while India remains a poor country with wide-spread malnutrition there have been no famines vs. 25 major famines under British rule in India in which approx. 30-40 million Indians died

Mauthausen-Gusen in Austria, the only grade III camp in the system Report Abuse
The numbers of people killed rank with your top four or five, but the fact of the creation of the place, and subcamps, to be a cruel as possible to barely living people and to construct barriers to basic life; plus the 20,000 handicapped children and adults who were gassed and burned at the Hartheim Castle (a subcamp of Mauthausen), plus assorted other enemies lists reaching to twice or three times that number deserves to be high on your list.
