Lukla Airport, Nepal Report Abuse
The Nepalese airport serves as the starting point for people wanting to trek Mt. Everest. It is the location that earns it the spot.

YES, IT IS REALLY RISKY AIRPORT BECAUSE OF ITS ALTITUDE AND THE SHORT RUNAWAY WHERE THE EXPERIANCE PILOT ALSO CANNOT LAND WITHOUT THE COMPLETE INSTRUCTION ABOUT THE AIRPORT RUNWAY AND AREA.

Sedona, Arizona, USA Report Abuse
The Sedona Airport, (KSEZ) is referred to as the "USS Sedona" because it is similar to landing on an aircraft carrier. Sedona is a dangerous airport and landing there is difficult for pilots due to wind, terrain and density altitude. The Sedona Airport is located atop a 500 foot high mesa overlooking the City of Sedona and US Forest Land. There have been 14 fatal crashes in Sedona since 1980, some occurring on the airport mesa or the adjacent mesa. Many pilots who cannot land here end up turning around and flying home and local pilots who get trapped in bad weather when coming home often land at nearby airports rather than risk a crash. Olympic Athlete Patrick Porter, his son and a friend died there on July 26, 2012, RIP.

It's a wonderful airport at which to attempt a landing if you have a death wish and in the case of commercial flights also have no conscience of how the presence of the airport is harming the local environment.

Princess Julianna International, St. Marteen Report Abuse
With planes flying 60 feet over the beach before hitting the runaway, it is an absolutely surreal sight. This is definitely the number two for being amongst the most dangerous.

this airport is nuts, our plane was between buildings and power lines, onto the narrow runway and rocked nearly tipping upon landing and the WHOLE plane applauded. no airport should be dangerous enough to deserve applause

Juancho E. Yrausquin Airport (Saba) Report Abuse
The only airport on the Caribbean island of Saba, in the Netherlands Antilles. The airport is on a peninsula with the runway starting and ending on oceanic cliffs. One side is the ocean the other are mountains. If you over shoot the airport you fall 300+ feet into the ocean.

With mountains in the way take offs and landings allow for no margin of error making this airport probably the most gnarliest in the southern hemisphere and can rattle the nerves in even the most seasoned flier.

Vagar Airport (FAE), Faroe Islands Report Abuse
Very dangerous airport with mountains on both sites. Lots of turbulance and low visibility requier the pilots to be specially trained for landing at this airport.

Approaches are impressive too as you fly down between the islands and look out and UP at the cliffs around you. Runway as I recall lies in a saddle between the mountains and is fogged or clouded in alot of the time.

With water at the end of the runaway and hills on the other side, it takes real skill to land an airplane here. Hence, this gets it the number three spot overall.
