A wealthy spinster who is both happy at the power that her wealth provides her and saddened by the fact that she was stood up at the altar. She is both manic and insane, as she wears a faded wedding dress and keeps a decayed meal lying on her table.

Mrs. Havisham is my favorite character from any of Dickens' stories. I've read Great Expectations and seen various productions of the book....I even have a ceramic figure of Mrs. Havisham on her wedding day!

A man so incorrigibly grumpy and greedy that he refuses to enjoy Christmas. His story of redemption is one of the most popular ones in literature today, and he is lucky enough to have his name, Scrooge, turned into an actual word, which means a miserly person.
