Greatest Heavy Metal Bands of All Time

I appreciate metal in almost all of its forms and frankly I get annoyed at the people who dismiss a band just because it's labeled as "nu-metal". Slipknot is an overall good band, certainly a very talented band and it shows at their gigs. Joey Jordison is one of the best drummers around, as young as he is: technical AND fast! Slipknot deserve more credibility. Kudos when it comes to the first 3 albums. I admit the last couple ones were a bit of a letdown, you'd have expected an album like that from Stone Sour, certainly not Slipknot. Still though, I'll always give them the thumbs up when it comes to their drummer and the live shows.

Any true metal fan is deeply offended by this band. They really are an embarrassment.

Sad Nu Metal Band .. Nu Metal SUCKS !!!!

I know what you're thinking but hold on a second. Let's pretend for a minute that Fred Durst isn't annoying at all and let's also pretend that they don't have a DJ. What do you get? A decent band. The drummer, bass player and guitarist, are all pretty good. Hell, even Durst sounds OK when he's not rapping in that annoying way. They actually cranked out some great riffs at times. If you listen to a song like The Propaganda (pretend the vocals and DJ aren't there) you'll find a solid metal riff. The same goes for a few of their other songs. I'm not saying they're a great band but they do have some good points and they are pretty fun to see live, that's where Durst really shines... in a way.

other way round. slipknot ripped-off mushroomhead. mushroomhead were formed two years before slipknot. the important thing to remember in all of this is that neither band is any good.

Seriously bad, everything about them sucks, the vocals, the lame chords and keyboards. Not to mention the maks, totally taken from Slipknot. No originality whatsoever and just plain bad taste music.

everyone thought they were a joke..... then one of band members dies (a tragedy for his family and the fans of course, cant deny that), then suddenly everyone think they are legends. sorry guys it doesnt work like that. they sucked before and will probably always suck

I cant believe that AS is so far down here! They are the pinnacle of metal. Synyster makes the most amazing riffs and The Rev is an amazing drummer!! Amazing band all around. YEAH!!!!

Now this band seriously pisses me off. They have absolutely no talent and it really shows when you accidentally hear them play live. They are a disgrace, no idea how they managed signing for a major label. They are labeled as "nu-metal" and sure enough, they ruin the reputation of the other so-called "nu-metal" bands. Even though whoever is into old-school metal doesn't even want to hear about nu-metal bands, there sure are talented ones out there. Korn and Slipknot are an example. Korn deserve the thumbs up for coming up with a new kind of music, they attemped something new and they did it brilliantly in the 90's, although now they seem to have lost their path. Slipknot are talented from a technical point of view. They sure have one of the best drummers around! Linking Park have nothing to do with this kind of nu-metal, they truly are a joke.

Linkin Park isn't metal, even the band members themselves have said that. Shouldn't be on the list.
