The North Inidan Ocean contains only a small number of these shark as opposed to the Gulf of Aden which has only one. This shark is one of the most endangered.

This shark is often caught as bycatch in squid fisheries in the Brazilian water range where this shark lives causing very low numbers and placing it on the endangered list.
