The National Museum of American History is the preservation center for the heritage of the US. The museum is located on National Mall, Washington D.C.

The National Air and Space Museum, Smithsonian Institution has one of the largest collections of aircraft and spacecraft in the world. There are over 30000 aviation related artifacts and 9000 plus space related artifacts in the museum inventory.

A military and maritime history museum, the Intrepid Sea-Air-Space Museum is located at Pier 86 at 46th Street on the west Manhattan. The highlight of the museum is the aircraft carrier USS intrepid itself. Other major highlight at the museum is the submarine USS Growler.

Designed as a floating airstrip, the aircraft carriers are the largest ships in any navies around the world. The US naval force owns its formidable reputation to its carrier task force. Because carriers are often named with the same name, they are identified by their “CV” designation.
