Incredible Shrinking Packages
23 items ranked
Many manufacturers of grocery items are shrinking their products but leaving prices the same or not dropping prices proportionately. Some consumers have noted this on some items, but not all. The trend is increasing. Here's a list of some of those I've discovered.

This was the first one I became aware of. The 1/2 gallon size no longer exists for most brands. Most brands now have 1 3/4 quart sizes. A few have now gone even further and made it 1 1/2 quarts.

This one really surprised me. This toilet paper is now 1/2 inch less wide than in the past!!

This has gone from 988 grams down to 798 grams. That is a huge drop in size, while not reducing their price nor making it obvious to consumers that the size has diminished.

has a package (5-2010) that is four rolls. Weighs about five ounces. The package actually states that it is 37 square feet of product. The cardboard in the middle is the biggest roll I have ever seen. $1.99. Three and a half of these packages (that is about $7.00) would be equivalent to one roll of Great Scott Tissue. ($1.09). What a giant rip-off!

Used to be 16 oz, now 14.4. Many older recipes of mine, simply stated "one stack", that can no longer work, since crackers are much smaller now.
