Secretariats world records still stand 38 years later and, like no other horse before or since, his Derby win was run each 1/4 faster than the last. He was bigger and stronger, and anatomically perfect. His heart weighed an astounding 22 lbs nearly 3 times larger than normal horses.

Royal Palace Report Abuse
Most underated racehorse of all time. Won nine of eleven. Two Thousand Guinees, Derby ( beating Ribocco easily, dual classic winner), Eclipse, King George ( breaking down, beating winners of Arc, Irish Derby, St Leger, Grand Prix de Saint Cloud) Prince of Wales, Coronation Cup, Royal Lodge et al. Maybe his stable companion Busted was better. We will never know, both really great.

Tulloch Report Abuse
Won an incredible 12 Group 1 races in his 3yo year alone incl. running a world record mile 1/2 time when he defeated the older horses in the Caulfield Cup. Won Group 1 races at 2yo, 3yo, 4yo-did not race, 5yo & 6yo and won Group 1 races from 7 furlongs to 16 furlongs. An extraordinary horse who more than likely missed his best racing years due to a mystery illness (entire 4yo & most of his 5yo year) but still came back to win multiple Group 1 races incl. Australasia's wfa championship race the WS Cox Plate.
