Fun battle/ability system along with fun mingames and sidequests that up the replay value. The game also features an engaging plot that is not afraid to be both light hearted and emotional. Plus it has an amazing cast of characters including Zidane, Steiner, Dagger/Garnet, and Vivi. Both Nobuo Uematsu and Hironobu Sakaguchi consider this entry thier personal favorite in the franchise. Combining the elements of all the games that came before it, FF IX finds the best of the old school and the new school.
