He is Mr. Met. Without a doubt the greatest Met to every wear the orange and blue in his prime and one of the greatest pitchers ever to pitch in Major League Baseball. Often remembered as one of the heroes of the 1969 Miracle Mets in which he won the Cy Young award he would go on to win two more Cy Youngs with the New York Mets. When he was traded it became known as the “midnight massacre” and broke the hearts of Mets fans. So beloved was he by Mets fans that when he came on for the Boston Red Sox in the 1986 World Series against the Mets he was applauded.

After all he accomplished with the Los Angeles Dodgers it seemed as if Mike Piazza would be remembered as the Dodger that was traded to the Mets.
