Led Zeppelin Report Abuse
Led Zeppelin is easily the best rock band of the 70s, and is quite possibly the best rock band of all time. This incredibly talented group of musicians rocked the entire 70s, and rocked them hard. While they are probably best known for their epic song "Stairway the Heaven," the band has produced album after album of amazing hard-hitting rock and roll.

The Who Report Abuse
The Who is another band who rocked the entirety of the 70s. Songs like "My Generation" have never gone out of style and continues to be a rock anthem for misunderstood teens everywhere. And who else can pull off an entire musical based on a deaf, dumb, and blind pinball phenom?

Pink Floyd Report Abuse
Trippy jam rockers Pink Floyd have sold over 200 million albums since they came on the scene. They were one of the first bands to use light shows and fireworks in their live performances, and their full-length film based on the double-album The Wall is truly spectacular from both a cinematic standpoint as well as a musical standpoint.

These pioneers of heavy metal started kicking a** and taking names back in the 70s. Modern heavy metal would be nothing without these guys.

Taking flower power well into the 70s and beyond, this San Francisco's bands, had one of the strongest fan followings up until the group disbanded in 1995. There is no fan more devoted than a deadhead.

Deep Purple Report Abuse
How anyone could miss out Deep Purple is beyond me. (I'm talking about the classic Deep Purple line up of the early 70's). OK music "likes" is very subjective but they would be in the top ten of most lists and I'd place them up there with The Who, Led Zep., if for no other reason than they recorded probably the best live album by any band (Made in Japan) and their vocalist at one time was Jesus Christ. Nuff said!
