I think this is on almost everyone's top list. It is one of those books that I can just read over and over again.

Great Expectations
A great book about truly good people versus innately selfish and vindictive people. Pip is one of my favorite characters of all time.

Harry Potter Series - JK Rowling
I can't possibly just pick one because I believe that all 7 books are really one just split into different parts. JK Rowling paints the most vivid pictures in your mind and her attention to detail through such a lengthy series is impeccable. It is truly a magical series.

Beauty on the outside is often ugly on the inside and nothing proves that better than this one.

Beach Road - James Patterson
So shocking. I got to the end and I sat and reflected for about a half hour on what I had just read. Then I went back and looked for hints that the book would end that way.
