Comments:
can lead to amputation, kidney failure, heart disease, blindness, coma, etc. Thankfully it can be controlled, but is incessantly hurting ones body and can be dangerous even under the best control. Before the invention of insulin, a diagnosis of diabetes was assured death within a year.

emphysema / COPD Report Abuse
You're lungs slowly deteriorate over the period of years or decades. You suffer from increasing breathlessness and a fullness in your chest that never subsides. You are at an increased risk for heart disease and lung cancer due to inflammation spilling over from the lugs. Eventually even rolling over in bed makes you breathless and you asphyxiate.
