Holy Roman Empire of German nation
Founded in the 10.century when the german King Otto the great was crowned Roman Emperor from the pope. This crown belonged to the German Kings until the year 1806. This empire lasted almost one thousand years and reigned over the largest area in Europe, including Germany, Austria, and mostly parts of what is today Italy, Slowakia, Tzech Republic, Netherlands. It reached its biggest extension in the 16th century when the sun did not set in it, because Spain and the biggest part of South America beloged to it.

In fact it was not "Holy" at all, but it defended for centuries Europe from threats of the East, including Islam, the Huns, the Mongols while in Western Europe they made their national monarchies. Germany paid with losses of blood and its national identity. When Germany became a nation in the late 19th century the European powers grew hostility and envy.

The Roman Empire became the Eastern Roman Empire And the western Roman Empire then the Eastern Romans Became the Byzantine Empire. Four Empires in one add that all up and they are (no contest) the largest and most powerful empire ever.

The BE set the mode for many countries for most of which it would be still a boon to be set in the European way of organizing and welfare. Britain spread a lot of human ideas into the world. Not all of them were much more than egoistic, but many were a blessing.

It was geograpically the biggest empire, but it was raher short timed. The decline started when their christian heriitage began to dwindle and hostility towards Israel started. Today Britain is but a small reminiscence of remote grreat times.
