New and available on kindle. He puts his plots where the action is. Zero fluff and pure adrenaline from the very first page. Won't be surprised if he develops a cult following. His Anon X: Soldier, Spy, Hitman, Hero is a one hell of a read!

Charles McCarry Report Abuse
McCarry -- The Tears of Autumn, The Secret Lovers, The Last Supper--is better than on more important levels than all the others listed. Not only authenticity, credibility, and plot, as to content, but the WRITING. He's as seamless and smooth and articulate as any of the "great" novelists. To put Ludlum, a guy who got by on plot but can barely write, on this list and to omit McCarry, is crazy.

got by on plot, isn't the plot the most important thing. A dumb story is a dumb story regardless of the writing style.

Always a good read. Easy reading too. Excellent eye for detail of Roman life (Pompeii comes alive from the pages of the novel of the same name).
