Really when it boils down to Sheer Charisma it's Freddie Mercury. Remember Live Aid he stole the show, had the entire audience in the palm of his hand and clapping along to Radio Ga GA

BRIAN CONNOLLY - 'SWEET' (1945-1997) Report Abuse
A truly electrifying charismatic performer. He stood out, with his naturally blonde blonde hair and beautiful good looks, he was quite shy too. Some of the songs Sweet put out in the 70's/80's have really stood the test of time, and are covered by many bands, even today - but no cover vocal can come close to the shear energy and power voiced by Brian. He had a huge fan base back then, and that fan base is still just as large even today. Yes, he had a hard time thanks to alcohol, and he paid for it dearly - but this man surely IS deserving to be among the top in the line up of Great Rock 'n' Roll front men. For all the joy he's given countless fans over the last few decades... he worked really hard to please his fans, and was gigging right up 'til just before his death. Brian . . . we thank you for being Mr BlockBuster! -you got my vote!

Ah yes, Brian Connolly, it's what he lived for.. being on stage and performing. Even (towards the end) when he probably shouldn't have - he was on stage doing his best - just not wanting to let his fans down. For him, his fans were everything. Music was everything - and for that and those great performances in the 70's & 80's He does deserve this - recognition !

Rod Stewart Report Abuse
Lord all mighty ! Is FRONT MAN being defined as a high kick a la Roth ? or the hystrionics of Mercury ? Stewart - DEFINED- front man while jagger was still doing the funky chicken on stage. Yes Agreed no one comes closer to Jagger now. But a front man , has to not only drive an audience to a frenzy , he/she has to keep a pace a tone and if you were god enough to write "Every picture tells a story" swing a succesful solo and band career with top hits at both at the same time (anyone wlse on this list did THAT!?). Yeah so he had his spandex movement that embarrsed everyone, but Steven Tayker would give his left nut to handle a mic on a stand like Stew. People get cought up in IDOLS but how in hell was John Lennon a "front man" waht enetertainment value did he give besides his REAL talent MUSIC ? ... have Yoko at his side? Let's get real Yeah Mick by miles top man . And as Stewart said "Mick can make me look like crap on stage , BUT .. shen it comes to singing.... oh please!

Paul Stanley KISS Report Abuse
Kiss redoubtably is the best marketable band in the world ever.. Think about it.. has anyone one else had the such a crazy stay show..solid shows years after year.. One of the few bands where the consumer actually got what they paid for.. And Paul Stanley undoubtedly the best front man so humble, so consistent, and hes always acknowledged and thank the fans... Go on U tube and check out how this band has survived a number of decades and has always given the fans the best they can..

Kyo Report Abuse
Frontman of the band Dir en Grey, Kyo really has a taste for theatrics, and definitely knows how to get a crowd full of English speakers into the music, despite the fact that the songs are almost entirely in Japanese, which is no east feat. In addition, try finding anyone with more diverse vocal styles (clean singing, to growling, to high-pitched squeals, to things that don't even sound human) or a larger range.
