Uhh... Avon's not the oldest cosmetic company. Shiseido is older... Khiel's (tho limited to hair & skin care) is older... But no matter, Avon is an establishment in itself. My own aunt is an Avon Lady. The brand just doesn't quite work for me. Make up feels too heavy.

I have to admit... I stay away from cheap cosmetics/skin care lines because I "always" get pretty bad skin reactions to reasonably priced products. Come to think of it I do get bad reactions from expensive stuff too. This sounds so pretentious, but I tried Jane because it was given to me by a friend & it looked like a fairly high end product... Minimalistic packaging but very refined looking product. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the price. It's not just reasonable. It's a steal because the product is great. Non-greasy, non-drying blush/highlighter. My friends claim that they think my skin looks like it has this inner, natural glow. Eye color stays on & blends well. Powders are non-irritants. I love it. My skin loves it most importantly.
