Macau’s Top Religious Icon Attractions
19 items ranked
When the Portuguese in 1557 established Macau, it was not only as a trading post but also as a bastion of Christianity. Thus Macau had also been known as "City of the Name of God, Macau". Most of the Catholic Churches of Macau are dedicated either to the Mother Virgin Mary and other saints, as is common in other places. The architectural style is predominantly European baroque with touches of Goan (India), Oriental and tropical features.
