Vingt mille lieues sous les mers; Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea (1872) Report Abuse
The title of the novel actually refers to the distance of the Nautilus journey rather than the depth the submarine ventured to.

The book was a bit dated but it was what was all theories that were thought to be valid at the time. Overall it was a the greatest science fiction book I have ever read and it will be for many years to come.

Very good.It certainly has taught a lot about igneous rocks along with vast information and details of the interior of a volcanic peak.Certainly, a masterpiece of Verne.

De la terre à la lune; From the Earth to the Moon (1865) Report Abuse
The setting for this book is in the post American civil war era. A gun club built a massive cannon to shoot three individuals to the moon. Despite being a fiction, the book bears striking similarities to the Apollo mission to the moon.

This is a sequel to From the Earth to the Moon. It is full of Jules Verne's love of math and physics. But it also continues the story of President Barbicane, Captain Nicholl, and the irrepressible Frenchman, Michel Ardan as they try to figure out whether they are going to land on the moon, drift off into space, or somehow return to earth.
