This is the biggest Gothic cathedral in the world. It has also the highest church towers. The Germans built more than 600 years long. It was miraculously untouched from the US air attacks, although the city all around was totally destroyed.

It took nearly 40 years to complete this magnificent structure with groundbreaking in 1953 and its dedication in 1893. As a symbol for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints it literally fulfills scripture: President Harold B. Lee said: “The coming forth of his church in these days was the beginning of the fulfillment of the ancient prophecy when ‘the mountain of the Lord’s house shall be established in the top of the mountains’” (in Conference Report, Apr. 1973, p. 5). see Isaiah 2:1-5 and Micah 4:1-5.
