Time is Running Out – Absolution Report Abuse
While the song is about a bad relationship being as powerful as an addiction, the song itself with its powerful rock ballad feels slightly more hopeful than the dreary lyrics.

Knights of Cydonia - Black Holes and Revelations Report Abuse
A very dramatic song about fighting for the future in an attempt to prevent the past. Some of the lyrics are a little controversial but that is what adds to the brilliance of the song. “Come Ride with Me/ Through the Veins of History/ I’ll Show You How God/ Falls Asleep on the Job”

Sold out to who? They have always done what they want, regardless of the fans. Why wasn't starlight selling out? What about Resistance? They should be able to make whatever music they want. Do you know the story behind the song? It was written by Matt about him having to apologize to his then wife/fiancé. I don't know how you can say they sold out when they followed it up with drones.

Hysteria – Absolution Report Abuse

When you talk about Muse to someone, they will usually think of Starlight or Uprising or Hysteria. No surprise there. Hysteria is one of these songs that completely illustrates a band.

Citizen Erased – Origin of Symmetry Report Abuse
While the exact meaning of this song is unknown some claim it to be a reference to 1984 while others believe it simply explores the feelings of being questioned, whatever the meaning the emotions in this song are very strong.

One of their greatest hits. Easily recognized when the keyboard enters during a live performance. IT remains forever in your mind once you've heard it, permanently carved in your soul. Bliss is tied with Hysteria as #1.

Stockholm Syndrome - Absolution Report Abuse
A song about feeling trapped in a relationship, it’s a feeling that can be easily felt by anyone who hears the song, immensely powerful and the rhythm of the song matches the emotion perfectly.

This song isn't about a trapped relationship, it's sung from the captors perspective in a hostage situation.

Unnatural Selection - The Resistance Report Abuse
This is, hands down, the best Muse song during the Resistance/2nd Law Era, and it's easy to see why. Sharing many similarities with the style of Absolution, paired with a Paranoid-Android-esque interlude of calm, before jumping right back in to the madness. The one criticism I have with it is its ending: though head-banging, it doesn't let itself sink in before letting MK Ultra take the stage. It's far from number one ( that should go to a song like Knights of Cydonia, Plug in Baby, Hysteria, etc.), but it's definitely worthy of a few more listens.
