The Polo label (Blue label) is largely conservative in a classic sense, but quality is quite variable here, from well made garments present at high end department stores to fairly mediocre pieces at outlets or discount malls. Ralph by Ralph Lauren is a fabulous casual line by Ralph Lauren, with quality of generally a good level. I am not a fan of the Chaps or Lauren by Ralph Lauren lines - they seem to be franchised brands that have little or nothing to do with Ralph Lauren's own quality controls or stylists.

Giorgio Armani mainline stuff is quite decent and elegantly styled, while Collezioni is a more conservative half way house between the higher end tailored brands and lower end mass market brands. Emporio Armani make moderately good pieces, but is a sub label that would appeal more to the teenage community or the brand monkeys who need logos for approval.

Actual mainline Giorgio Armani is pretty decent and fashion forward in a conservative way. Armani Collezioni very conservative and why a person would go here instead of Ralph Lauren or Brooks Brothers is beyond crazy. Emporio Armani = trash, tacky etc ... need I say more?

One Day I Was Thinking Abercrombie Or Hollister ?

Great brand and excellent quality. It addresses a specific niche in the market between sportswear and formal wear. And, if it fits, then you can wear it. The sizes do run small. I'm a fan of their muscle shirts and outwear.

I work here, I am surprised it is even that high. I see lots of people come in but the quality sucks. Can't tell you how many times I see clothes get destroyed in the back because of their poor quality.

Gucci are a fashion brand, which means there are some really nice pieces, and some really bad ones. The quality is variable, but is never actually poor, and is mostly quite good to excellent. Gucci are an over rated brand label. Quality is OK, style is boring or tacky, but posers love them. You can get so much better by investigating smaller, more tailored brands. You pay more for brands like Kiton, Loro Piana or Zegna, but believe me they are better, much much better than Gucci.

Comment showing ranking system is one of the worst ranking lists of clothes I have ever seen. Obviously written by someone who knows nothing about the clothes or brands. Louis Vuitton have their fingers in many pies, when they lower the tone on their logos, the quality is very good. But having logos is part of their appeal - brand worshipers would not be able to buy Louis Vuitton without logos. Such a shame, because people should buy clothes because they are stylish and well made, not because logo's are plastered everywhere. Louis Vuitton make good stuff, no question, but I am not sure they make nice aesthetically pleasing stuff.

Burberry are not a bad label, from fashion forward Prorsum line to Burberry London line focussed more on conservative clothing (and occasionally their signature plaids). Quality is so so, I am not a great fan of their tailored stuff (if indeed you can call it tailored).

Used to be the best brand label in the 1990's for their gaudy fashion. Nowadays a shell of their former selves, but I see the quality and style is returning. Should be top 20.

Prada are a good fashion label - some of their designer pieces are very nice. Could you fill a work wardrobe with them? Hell no, and who would want to! But for occasional pieces, they are good. I personally avoid them for suits and other tailored pieces, but casual or dressy shirts, sweaters etc, Prada are good ;)

Brooks Brothers are an American giant. Focus mainly on conservative casual and smart clothing, although Black Fleece line is more fashion forward. Quality ranges from average to very good, but is typically good. Price wise they are very competitive and sales are a good time to hunt.

Super expensive, but super high quality. Leather goods as good as one can get - I doubt even bespoke could reach this level of craftmanship. As for Hermes clothes, they are well tailored and constructed, but of limited appeal. They have too small a clothing range each season, and the styling is quite generic. I see no reason why I would get a Hermes suit over a tailored suit from Napoli - quality wise they are about the same, but Hermes would not have much choice in fits or styles. Hermes are boss for leather goods, but much more limited on tailored clothing. And yes, $300 plus for a tee shirt is plain dumb, no matter how good the quality of cotton. Also, their belt buckles with that H symbol is a little stupid, but nevermind, their belts are amazing quality, just flip the buckle and get it changed for another.

£270 for a classic polo shirt, £1000+ for a white cotton shirt!. k thanks bye... a brand for the uber rich, or just people with money to burn. (they the only clothing brand listed here that are in the top 100 power brands of 2011)

Not Famous yet But Amazing quality and Long Lasting Fashionable when i bought i thought its not a good brand but when i worn it it was just amazing quality.

Cool looking jeans, quite fashion forward, but a rip off at retail. Get them from Saks Off Fifth, you pay $170 instead of $300+. I also think these jeans rock younger people better than older.

I've been building a TR jean collection over the past month. Doesn't get any better. $300 is a lot for jeans but it's a small price for how they make you feel and look. The ladies love them, I get compliments every time I step out my door. Graduating from Guess and Diesel and TR's will be the only thing I'm wearing from here on out. 5 pairs and counting..

Ferragamo are a big brand label, but to suggest Ferragamo do the best leather is plain wrong. At best, Ferragamo belong to the Prada, Gucci, Dolce and Gabbana club. They certainly are not up there with Hermes, or even Louis Vuitton for that matter.

No more expensive than Gucci or Prada, but better quality. One of the best clothing makers in the world for ready to wear - Brioni cant be beaten. Perhaps Brioni dress shirts are not as good as they should be, but their suits and jackets are amazing.
