The USA may have been the most powerful country previously, but after the turn of the millenium their power started to dwindle. There is no way they will ever pay off their 16 trillion dollar dept anytime soon, and they keep wasting their troops on fighting wars in third-rate countries (Afghanistan, Iraq, Serbia, Lybia, ext.) when the rest of the world's superpowers are holding their troops back. America also does not create the vast majority of its manufactured goods, and instead imports them from China and Germany. Not only is that costing America who knows how many millions of dollars a year, but if they were to manufacture their own, they would have a means of paying off their debt and making themselves less dependant on others.

Militarily, U.S. is most powerful. They never use the full force of the military. If they did, almost any war would be "won" rather quickly. Economically and politically, it is weakening. They are tossing money out of the window at an alarming rate and not really making any in return. The people are becoming weak and lazy. They remind me of sheep at times and I wouldn't be surprised if they slipped at some time in the near future. The bigger they are........
By the way, I am American and this situation is sickening. I speak the truth and if you don't like it then do something about it. Quit talking about being the best and just be the best.

i dont think this rank is because of the US armed forces, lets be realistic they are by far the best, however this may be so because it is dependent on foreign suppliers for resources and has a massive government, household and trade debt.

Turkey's strong relationship and common history with most nations in the middle east makes its domination acceptable for them. In addition, having very important petroleum pipe lines connecting Assia to Europe increases its weight on both middle east and Europe. Lastly but not least, Turkey's military power which is strongest across europe shows how this argument is rightful.

I think you rather mind Great Britain. It USED TO be powerful in 19th century and in beginnig ogf20th century , but lost its power in WW2. Great Britain was really great during victorian age, when 'the Sun had never set on British Empire', as it had land all over the Globe.
