Written accounts of that time were thought to be exaggerated either for affect or because the disease was so widespread the writers were overwhelmed.

Fleas were the carriers of the Bubonic Plague Report Abuse
When a flea can no long hold bacteria in its body it bites a host (usually a small mammal like a rat) the bacteria infects the rat, other fleas bite the rat and gets the disease that way. These fleas carried the plague to humans.

Ring around the rosey was the boils that occurred on the body, pocket full of posey, flowers were put in peoples pockets because they smelled so bad and ashes ashes we all fall down was when they burned the bodies.

Dark spots would appear on the skin from internal bleeding, foul order would come form the infected person.
