Because he's only in seventh grade but he's an extraordinary trumpet player he can play all the way from low g to high c!!! Plus he's one of the youngest trumpet players at his school and he's already in the top band and he is first chair!!!

I started in seventh grade and by the end of the year could play from pedal g to third ledger line e. Nothing special just hard work and practice with the exception that I never practiced more than a few minutes out of hand.:)

All well and good...but...a lot of young trumpet players can play to and above High C if they had the correct instruction and if they practiced correctly. Ditto on playing "first chair" in a school band...And just how good is the Band on a National (or Regional) rating system. Not trying to knock this guy but it sounds like you are a friend and probably not objective in your rating

Played in a lot of Jazz, Latin and Funk bands in 70's and 80's. Also played Eb Cornet in Civil War Re-enactment bands. Still playing now-a-days with different groups.

Got his start in, and was originally recognized while playing in, Drum & Bugle Corps in the '60's-'80's. Became well known as a jazz-style player with great endurance and flexibility and an extreme upper register going beyond double high C.
