You think one murder a day is bad. Try living in New Orleans or Detriot. They have at least three murders a day.
Chicago is more cold blooded than any of these cities mentioned here. Stay in your Motel 6 at night if you ever dare to stay over.
All yall cats make me laugh bring ya country asses to b-more or philly and you'll go home with a real story for ya peeps lol nebraska haha
Hi I'm from Sydney australia and I would just like to say that all you ****in Americans make me laugh. None of you so called gangstas have the balls to fight one on one with your fists like real men. You are all weak ****** mutha ****as and you know it. That's why none of your gangs exist in Australia. Coz in oz all you weak ****s would get ****ed up. In Sydney Australia is where real men live. So go and **** yourselves you black Mexican wannabe ****** gangstas !!!!!
we kill for no reason around here cold hearted **** every other city blood
I live in Omaha now. Its fine. You can walk wherever you want. Of course if you START trouble there will be problems. But mind your own and its cool.
I live in Oakland Ca and grew up in Omaha. Not only is Omaha way more violent, but it has much more random violence. It's just a sick culture. There is nowhere in Oakland I can't walk at night, but there are entire areas in Omaha that are untraversable at night. Gotta say, this made me laugh. Omaha is just one big ghetto as has been for decades. It's so sad. Get out. I lived all over the country, and Omaha is very unique in how terrible it is. The cops are stone cold murderers too.
richmond VA goes harder thn richmond CA... bt jacksonville out shootz em all JACC BOI 4 LIFE
Woah woah woah Elkhorn is where it's really bad. I mean we had a murder just 2 years ago!
This list is Terrible Gary ain't even in the top ten get ur facts str8
There are shootings every day in my city. Places and people getting robbed like every night just down the street. People are struggling to live around here, run down building everywhere, boarded up houses, crackheads walking around and groups of people posted up on street corners, if you don't see it when you're downtown or in yuppieville west omaha go to the REAL north or south omaha. midwest g's around here don't play it's all the same
First of all there is no separate town called North Omaha. North Omaha is just an area of Omaha. Second, there aren't anywhere near 365 murders a year here.
Ain't no damn murders every day but it is getting really bad. I'm considering moving.
u dont go to a city and see drama everywhere like frandtheftauto or sum **** u have to live here 2 know
Kansas city sucks! They are a bunch of girls!
That's why they are rated 99 out of 114. (402)
i been to omaha it aint nothing......its gay there....come to kansas city and see what happens
Nah, it's pretty bad man. If you can't walk there safe, it's pretty bad.
we not that bad ! its just not alot for the teenagers to do so they gangbang and sell drugs

To all you people who lost many loved ones or friends, hate to say it but they must have been criminals or hung with criminals. I lived in Aurora for more than 30 years of my life and I'm still alive. If you stay in your neighborhood, and make sure it isn't one with blacks or Mexicans, then you will be fine. In my opinion, kill all criminals convicted 3 separate times and watch the crime rates drop. Working society should never have to pay for criminals who proved they cannot be a decent part of society. I know if I was president, I would implement a three strikes and you are out(dead) act. We are way too lenient to criminals here and our prison systems are a joke. All we should have to feed them despicable bastards and that is it. No commissary, no TV's and no privileges. Just 3 hots and cot is all them criminals deserve. Bet that crime rate would drop drastically if the prison system was like that.
The guy who said when did Chicago make the top 5 worst cities in the last 20 is a idiot. Chicago was one worst city in the early 90's. FBI murder statistics for these years in Chicago.
1991-927 murders
1992-943 murders
1993-931 murders
1994-929 murders
1995-827 murders
With all other crimes added in it was the worst city in the early 90's look at the FBI statistics.
Pay no attention to statistics in Aurora cause a lot of the hood is in unincorporated Aurora Township so not in the city boundaries proper. Westwood project is one of those places and theyres more crime in those areas than parts of the city itself.
Aurora, Colorado is no picnic either. I lived in both unfortunately. I'll take my chances with Aurora Colo though cause at least there I knew where to avoid the danger. In Aurora, ILL-ANNOY the danger is just so random that you never now where you'll get hit.
Typical day in my city. Guy burns his house down and kills his brother and cousin at the same time. They say it was over drug money and hoes. The zoo is nice and downtown is cleaner but still not super safe or exciting. The mall is still a war zone with Kings and GD fights every night. Most everyone I know is unemployed or workin for pennys. The illegeals sell most of the drugs and shot each other and innocent people. The illegals are the only ones making money in this town cause they smuggle drugs. I had 3 friends get shot and 2 died. 2 more committed suicide. The cops are corrupt. If I had money and didn't have family and friends here I woulda left a long time ago.
Every1 in Aurora works somewhere else cause there aint no jobs here but sellin drugs or flippin burgers. Ya'll need to sell that s**t to rich kids from Naperville or the inbreds and illegals in Oswego cause its killin us here man. Take all the violence there to so they get a taste of what its like to rep and live in fear in A-town.
Couldn't wait 2 leave that place. I thought I was gonna get mugged walkin out of the casino! Aint got nothin good to eat there either. I felt safer in Chicago.
MS-13, Kings & the Cartel run the multi-units East of the river. The FBI raids in the mid 2000's just made them crazier and more crafty. Its where out of town boys come to die. Be ready for a rough summer.
Man I moved up outta a-town 10 years ago and I aint neva gonna go back no what im sayin. I lost 3 friends and almost lost my brother I wish A-town well it'll alwayz be home to me but it aint no place to raise your kid
Alright people talkin lotta nonsense so ima tell it straightup Aurora aint reportin all the stuff goin on cause the city wouldn't build the new giant cop shop if they think they police was doin a bad job so they had to keep crime stats low to sell people on the new cop shop. Ok plus aurora gettin tight on landlords the city says u can't rent to felons dealers and bangers no more or u lose u property plus they closed up the public houseing so the problem r still here they just moved to other places like oswego Sandwich and plano cause people rentin to section 8 trill gd's deuces and vicelords now cause they cany sell they houses. So its for real thr east side still real shady and a-town's problems spreadin to neighbor towns but no of them like Englewood in the Chi or Westwood was in A-town yet but I'm say 1 more thing lotta folks worryed bout this summer cause people goona fight 4 these new territorys might time to just move me outta the area
First, when did Chicago make the top 5 in the last 20 years. In the last ten years the most murders chicago had for a single year was in 2001 when it had 665 murders. Chicago has a lot of people about 2.8 million. So it murder rate is only about 22 murder per 100k. Dont get me wrong that is a pretty high murder rate for any city and chicago a rough city, but it is no where near the top 5 or even the top 20.
Second, Aurora had 15 murders (2000), 8 (2001),25 (2002),13 (2003),17 (2004). Thats an average of 15.6 murder a year for those years. And with the size of Aurora's population thats not that many. Its murder rate for those years per 100k are only: 10.5 (2000), 5.6 (2001), 17.5 (2002), 8.5 (2003), 10.9 (2004). I am not saying Aurora is a very safe city, it just not a very dangerous one. Maybe for your area those are high numbers and it may seem bad there but compared to dozens and dozens of other cities in the US those numbers dont even come close to theirs. With murder rates that low this city should not even be on this list at all. And im pretty sure in the last few years their were even less murders (like in 2008 only 2 murders). So pretty much what i am saying is yes Chicago is a bad city but not as bad as you think compared to other cities like Camden, Detroit, New Orleans, Irvington NJ, Oakland, Gary IN, St. Louis, Flint MI, Richmond Ca, Memphis, Newark, Baltimore, ect ect. And Aurora is definitely no where near those cities! Or even dozens and dozens... and dozens of other cities.
chicago make the top five fasho yu trippn im from Aurora and since you wanna kno facts from 2000-2004 we was averaging bout twenty murders a year nd we the second biggest city so yu dont kno wats going on here dont let the numbers fool yu plus 85% of the murders takke place on one side the East side so if yu thinkk its an act come through dat East side if yu want to but oswego definately not thuggin ima keep it real dnt kno who put them on dere
NO not nuff said!... it had 30 murders a long time ago in the early 90's i looked it up.. check wikipedia too.. a lot of bad cities were even worse in the early 90's, the 90's were just a bad time.. but even if you were telling the truth and Aurora did have 30 murders recently, which your not and it didnt. But lets say they did have 30 murders and some point in the, lets give you last 10 years, it would have 30 murders out of a population 170,000 ppl. Thats a per capita murder rate of about 17 murder per 100,000. Thats a pretty high number for an average city but wouldnt even put you in the top 40 worst cities today. Cities like Detroit, Flint, Gary, New Orleans, and Camden,NJ have over 4 times that murder rate per capita. Camden a city with only 80,000 ppl has had years in the last 10 years with over 60 murders a year, thats a per capita murder rate of about 75 murders per 100,000!! Wikipedia says Aurora, IL only had 2 murders as recently as 2007, so stop stating false facts that you are not even close to being correct about. All these cities that i see on this site from some no name town in IL are all making false claims and are all probably from someone who lives in IL trying to make his area sound cool. Because of how false this Aurora, IL post was i decided to look up the stats for all the towns on this site that are from IL. What i found is all of these town are not bad at all! with the exception of Chicago and Cicero, IL and even those two wouldnt be in the top 30 (but they're still bad though). Stop Lieing!!! I hope everyone down ranks all of the corny IL towns you added and falsely claiming they're dangerous, when they are not!!!!

MIAMI HAS GOT TO BE TOP 5 THEY JUST SHOT AND KILLED TO POLICE AND IN 2007 THEY SHOT ANOTHER ONE THE GANGS OUT HERE ARE ****EN RIDICOLUS AND EVERY NIGH THESE FOOLS SHOOTEN ONE ANOTHER PEOPLE GET ROBBED AND KILLED AS MUCH AS ANY OTHER CITY AND ITS DEFFINTLY WORST THEN ORLANDO
Comments:
they killed 4 cops in oakland ca like last year and cops be killin people round here like its nothing
I don't know much about Miami but I just went there on vacation. I was suprised at what the news reported while I was there. As a result, I completely agree with the post above mine... alot gets swept under the rug.
Doesn't matter, the state of Florida pulls out all the stops to keep it's pristine real-estate out of the news and off any list that discredits the state!
I consider Florida as being in the top 3 for all crime and #1 for illegal drugs!!

I don't know what part of town the people who say houston isn't rough live in, but obviously clear lake or sugarland or something. Houston is very dangerous, I spent the first 20 years of my life on the northside and I assure you it is very rough. The cops would not even come out to our neighborhood at night, you could call all night. And my block was considered nice. I live in new orleans now and I feel safer here at 2 am than I did in houston at 2 pm.
MOVING HERE NEXT WEEKEND. BEEN IN AND OUT OF THE H ALL MY LIFE. LOVE IT. RIP HAWK.
Don't know where everyone else is getting their info, but I am fairly certain the Northeast and East have the highest murder rate in Houston, followed by the Southeast. Am a single female, born here, lived southwest, central, north, northwest, west. The Astrodome area used to have a gaggle of prostitutes, but haven't seen any in over a decade or more. Have seen corner drug dealers just east of downtown, heard a few gun shots North of N. Shepherd and 43rd, and drove past a body at the curb a block or two from Shepherd and Westhiemer, but that could have been an accidental hit and run. Not much to speak of for nearly 40 years of living here. People here are generally friendly unless they are in a hurry or having a bad hair day lol
Oh yeah, the south west side is nothing too play with either! It's hot as he'll over there! The northside & the southwest side are the worst! Strap up or get clapped up over there! It
Houston is laid back! I've lived here since 2004, and have always felt safe! From what I hear in the 90's it was ruff, but has calmed down substantially since then. I have lived on the Southside of Houston, and from my experience, and observations it's cool. There is a lot of drug activity, but you don't have the violence that typifys other major cities( NJ, Baltimore, Miami, etc). I know drug dealers that don't even carry a gun, and there is no beef over drug territory in the Black Southside hoods. The Northside is a different story though, and is way more hood, and violent than the south. Fortunately, everything in Houston is situated on the southside, so I don't have to venture to that side of town. It seems like every murder they showcase in the " H" is on the northside, ya dig! All in all, I love Houston!!! Grew up in
Southern Cali, but Houston is home now. The cost of living is extremely low, and it is relatively safe for a city this large. To be the 4th largest city in America & rank where we are in this list should show that!
It ain't that tough in Houston I'm from here it ain't the way ppl make it sound anybody can make it down here if u mind yer bizzness. The city is jus known for being on dat drank everyone walking around like zombies
houston is insane!!! i was with my girlfriend visiting her sister who lives in houston...decent neighborhood at least i thought until i saw these dudes shooting out in the middle of the street.....at 9 in the morning!! vato's are crazy down there ....be very very careful when visiting houston.
"If you're ever in Houston, well, you better do the right; You better not gamble, there, you better not fight, at all: Or the sheriff will grab ya and the boys will bring you down. The next thing you know, boy, Oh! You're prison bound."
Just something I heard about Houston.
These people are fearless when it comes to police offiers, this year only dozens of cops were murder while pursuing a criminal.
When I lived in Houston and people found out i was from Baltimore they became scared of me. Houston aint all that tough to me.
All I have to say is Police get killed out here too drastically, all you little punks that want to be hard houston will tear you a new one and im not even from here

Man Atlanta is where its at. all everybody do out hea is robb steal and kill. even our suburbs is a bad spot to live . come to the westside southside or eastside and you aint from hea . i bet you get yo ass beat robbed killed and get dumped in the river . str8 up
I stay on the southside of atlanta. In one of atlantas suburban areas called Clayco. Clayco is home numerous gangs, and the youngsters out here will rob and shoot for an ounce of weed. Atlantas suburbs are actually worse then the citys epicenter. Mainly due to whites moving back to the cities and all the poor blacks taking to the suburbs Clayton and Dekalb county to be exact. Between ClaycCo and Dekalb. Just watch our news channels, shootings, home invasions, kidnappings, and robberies go down all day out here. The news channel and helicoptors have been to my neiborhood like 4 times in one year. One time they found a body in the woods, 2 seperate shootings, and another home invasion shooting. Thats why 48 hours is filming in dekalb county they even said that they got 2 seasons worth of murders ready to air in the time it normally takes to film a half of seasons worth of murders in other cities, and thats Dekalb Co atlantas suburb. It may look nice but a simple run in with a hot head or even a drug deal gone bad could cost u ur life out here.
Atlanta has had 15 shootings resulting in 8 deaths in the last 72 hours. It looked like towards the end of the 90's the ATL was on the up and up, but the economy going to crap has had it's effect on the city. Crackheads and thugs from the ghettos just wonder into the "nice" parts to commit crimes. Ga Tech students get robbed almost nightly now.
i live in georgia and about 10 minutes from atlanta, yeah theres some deaths just like any other city but its not like the early 90's there no killing like some of these people be talking about.
I just left Atlanta. It's a beautiful city with unheard or seen landscaping and breathtaking architect. But the ignorant and criminal mentality is fast killing the city. I wish the law could bag up all the 'wanna be killers and evil people' and ship them all off to Iraq, Mexico or Afghanistan, where they'll match their heartless activities.

The racist comments on this thread is why Dallas is in the top ten. TX breeds hatred and violence because of it's overt racism. That's why I had to leave.
That triple D...there aint nothin you cant find in this city...everybody got guns, and everybody will use em...you never know when someone you talk wrong too out here will leave you in the street....there aint a safe side of dallas...all the nice neighborhoods are bordering the worst hoods...even the suburbs are known for gang violence...
For the persons that left comments 3 & 6....God bless you. People are still very ignorant and suffer from a huge case of stupidity. Animals??? Grow up and try to make a difference..START WIT YOUR OWN SELF....DEE. VICTORIA. TX
Dem dam ******s are all animals dem hoes would go around jacking off on every female guard dat Walked by. Dam ******s act like animals in prison.
I ain't from Dallas but I am Mexican. But when I was in prison ther was more nuggets in ther for sex cases and them dam coons act like a bunch of animals. Them nuggets would masturbate on every woman that walked by in front of everybody that's why we smashed them monkeys in the riot in smith unit. Becauz one of dem jiggers wAs in da chow hall jacking off on a guard in the middle of breakfast until one of my see homeboys stole that monkey. So for u to say that this city is filled with nuthin but Mexican sex offenders yer wrong. Look at the statistics before u talk *****
That is a false stament. If you look at statistics more white males are convicted for sexual assault and even worse sexual assault on a child. Mexicans in Texas are mostly convicted on violent and drug related crimes. That is not to say yes some Mexicans do get convicted for sexual assault. But whites take the price.
There's always drive-by shootings in my area. That and the police here like to keep things quiet.
He's not judging by one or two people, look at the statistics for dallas. They like to take advantage of people
That's a terrible thing to say. Way to judge an entire group of people by one or two. One race or another is not more likely to rape or molest; you just demonstrated alot of ignorance
dallas should be in top 5 because these mexicans rape and molest more people than ever.

IF YOU LOOK UP THE MURDER CAPITOL OF FLORIDA, YOU WILL GET DUVAL COUNTY WHICH IS JACKSONVILLE. I HAVE BEEN HERE FOR THIRTY-SIX YEARS AND THIS PLACE IS NO JOKE. I AM SCARED!!! TO RAISE MY SONS HERE. THESE YOUNGSTERS WILL KILL YOU AND THEN GO HOME AND EAT A BURGER. THE POLICE DON'T SOLVE THE CRIMES SO THEY CALL THIS PLACE THE " BANG-EM".
Comments:
yeah that is true that the police never report all the murders that go on in jacksonville i live here and know 8 people who are dead and too many to count of who are locked up in the pin and i am still a teenager we should be over miami
i live in jax and it is all about where you place yourself. i moved here from cleveland ohio and if you wanna feel uncomfortable just drive through east 80th to about east 115th st. i dont know how cleveland is not on this list because its like compton and watts combined on those streets
man im born and raised in duval county and im only 16 year old wit 4 dead home bois who was my age and to many homebois and family locked up to count
I was born and raised in jacksonville.I lived in east, west, and north sides of town and dont know anybody who's been murdered, shot, raped, stabbed, maybe a stolen car, a house broken in to. so i guess for the most part of what i'm saying is put your self around those people places, situations and you get probably 98% of the murders in jacksonville!! Or the usa
I was born in raised in Duval, and there certain parts of town where you can literally feel the imminent danger lurking in the air. I just thank God, He made a way for me to survive.
i was born an raised in duvalll in since i was a kids ive been goin to funerals or hearing bout gone play or even runing from it i lived n da hood moved n it feel like da hood followed gun play dnt stop n duval its every where
Duval murder capital of usa they just won't tell you that, 90% of murder go unsolved

Im from St. Petersburg and less than a year ago there was a shoot out. A guy with an AK-47 was in a shoot out with us marshalls, local police, and i believe sheriffs too. Shortly after an undercover cop was shot down. High speed chances all the time.
I am a police officer for the city. Believe me, most of the residents here are animals....No respeect for life, property or people!

Macon is worst than any city in Georgia. Some folks came from Atlanta to open up shop and they left next week in bodybags. Stay out of Macon if you value yur life!!
i stay in macon..its gettin real crazy out here now.. Crime rate is mainly w/ the youth. Everything gets shut down because they're always fighting and shooting. Im only 16 and i'm ready to get away from here. We done lost alot of homies to these streets. Its not cool at all.
12.
Comments:
To be real Macon the only place to go where you will see somebody pull to AK-47s straight out there pants. Like fareal how do you fit 2 AK-47s in your pants.
Clearly this is not an accurate poll. Denver is not high crime. I don't see Kansas City on here and there have been over 63 homicides ( mostly drive bys) since Jan 2011. Think that might put KC up on top? Denver and Colorado Springs are much better choices for living a healthier and safer life.
Denver is one of the nicest, cleanest cities I've ever seen. East side is kinda shady around parts of Colfax but Aurora (Colorado) is FAR more scummy & shady. WTF? Denver doesn't even make the list IMHO.

Well if you not blood, gd, or crip and you want to run our streets, you will not make it. I stay in the house now to avoid all the violence. When i was younger i was involved, now seeing how alot of innocent getting killed, i jus stay to myself and go nowhere. Now it the home of kush and gangs!!!!!
Nashville is getting crappy, too. A lot of people moving to our state due to no income tax and a lot of businesses moving here. Traffic is rediculous.
Memphis is not that bad of a place. The only problem i have had is alot of racism. I have never been a victim of crime and I have lived here for 10+ years.
Orange Mound and Voo Doo Village are places to avoid when in Memphis. Graceland is right in the middle of drive by shooting paradise. Come see the King and dodge bullets free with the price of admission. I lived in that crap hole city for 20 years and now in Nashville. Night and day difference..If you are white be prepared for some serious reverse discrimination...Would be a great place for nuclear bomb testing..
I remember when you didn't have to lock your doors at night. Memphis was voted most beautiful city & city of churches in the 60's and 70's. Now, it's the dirty city of uncurable racism, corruption, and abandoned buildings.
Memphis and Nashville from 1990 to 2010 combined averaged 227 murders per year.New Orleans from 1990 to 2010 alone averaged 260 murders per year. Memphis is bad but not that bad.
Memphis has not suffered the highest per capita murder rate in any single year over the last 2 decades. Numbers don't lie so people need to quit all that false boasting for real.
from the same place but for someone who grew up there its home for outsiders its hell they say its a city of brotherly love i seen defferent ive seen a lot in the little time i was there
It hasnt been three years STL just lost it like a year or two ago
No one ever listens to me when I talk about my hometown. It's evil, and the heart of this city is black and bloody. Stay the hell away.

They may not kill a lot of people but drugs are out of control in Tampa. I lived there for 13 years before joining the Air Force due to drugs.
Tampa is not a bad place at all gangs yea there are none out here if they r in a gang they are jus reppin not really bangin.

You ever watch the show the first 48? memphis and this city on there all the time
be on point on the south side 12th ave but the street gangs have wised up you see 18 and 20 yr olds in escalades and benzes they ball in Tucson
There were only 76 homicides in 2010.
Statistically you are more likely to have your car stolen twice, and broken into four times before you get shot.

And then Mayor Daley reduced the city's crime rates by pushing the criminals out to the suburbs so now all the non-criminal suburbanites hate Mayor Daley forever because he made the problem more widespread so he could improve his stats.
Don't tell Chicagoans this, but Rio (the city that won the 2016 olympics) has a far higher murder rate than Chicago.
Chicago is one of the highest in murders but not overall crime..
chicago is notorious for its gang reputation. being a resident. i can honestly say every block is a turf. northside southside westside its all kings sds vice lords TWO SIIIX ambrose bishops latin counts morgan boys 4CH gds mlds all gangs. and for reason thats y i love it. f.u.c.k. 19 its murder capitol of the world. #1
chicago aint no joke neither is the people here just because all the crime isnt reported dosent mean it aint here people still call us ignorant by saying call the police listen this citys been corrupted up n down just ask the people in da jungle even cicero knows wat im talkin bout mayor betty lawrence maltice yea dat mob been runnin it since capone got to chicago and they still are why dont you think all the murders arent reported go drain lake michigan n yul see wat im talkin bout
Anybody can rank chicago whatever they want but ppl in this city know what kind of hell goes on here. Although you got your killers in every city all around the world. The thugs in chicago are unique to others in the U.S.
If the young punks really knew how to aim then there will be a real blood bath. 60+ shootings per just the weekends..
Although with the projects down and police cameras everywhere, crime has dramatically dropped in chicago compared to 90's when murders rate was nearly 1,000 murdered a year.
do you read the ignoance thy are writing. seriously what is there to proud about having the highest murder rate. oooh wait you probably thinks its cool to kill people. stupid idiot.
i wouldnt say the most dangerous city.. but definatly the most dangerous city fa ages 14-20.. kids die there almost every day its a shame ...

I know I live there but i didn't realize it was third in the WORLD i thought that would be like in the middle east
When NOLA evacuated after Katrina, Texas had NEVER seen criminals like the ones out of there, it was like, these people did not come from a civilized society. Very scary as they started shooting up Texas, burning cars in the streets, doing drugs i the open, kicking in doors at apartments. very glad that most chose to go back because its another world down there!
aint noo city ****en wit tha N.O. we **** ova every city we go to namsayen **** yall *****s IM A N.O. *****
Third in the world?? I think you'll find that's a bunch of bull. According to the FBI, NOLA had the nation's highest murder rate at 21.4 per 100,000 - ust beating out Pine Bluff.
I really think new Orleans should be number 1 there is 5 murders a night. That's sick we should have better forces.
Of the cities that are in the top 10 highest average murder counts per year from 1990-2010 New Orleans' average per capita murder rate of 59 per 100,000 from 1990-2010 is the highest of that undistinguished group.
New Orleans does has a lot of crime but it's the best place to party! I got respect. The gangs are really bad though. Trust me, I know.
New Orleans continues to have the highest murder rate in the nation, according to an FBI report released Monday. Due to Katrina and the shifting populace has made crime rates difficult to nail down, but even using the most generous estimates, New Orleans has ranked among the nation's most murderous cities for several years. Richmond, Calif., a city of nearly 103,000 that sits north of Oakland, has the second-highest per-capita.
this is hapening because the punishments are so unharsh... if u stole somthing in arabia theyde chop ur hands off therefore no one steals?..
Everybody talk about New Orleans, like it's the only city that has crime, but it's not crime is everywhere, it's just that our media finds it amazing to broadcast it 24/7. Maybe if they start putting some of the good things that's happen in the city, our city won't get looked at as being the murder capital of the world. And furthermore if parents would do a better job raising their kids and stop letting society brain wash them, the entire world would be a better place. I have traveled to many different cities and I haven't found one that when I watch the news there isn't crime and I haven't found one that has open arms like New Orleans that make everyone feel at home no matter what shape, size or color you are, so until I find another place that I feel can rise to the title of being my Home. New Orleans it is.
i know that it seems bad but dont listen to everything. im from NO nd i dont have to worry about getting killed. just dont go to that type of environment. try the garden district
I lived there my whole life then moved and when I tell people where I'm from they're almost shocked... one guy was all "Oh man you go down there and you'll get a knife pulled out on you.." Well if people used more common sense it's not as scary as people may think... I mean I'm not sayin NO is a safe place... it's far from that... but if you go there don't just think you're gonna get shot you know? It kinda annoys me...
Aw that's sad they're killin the babies and old folks. Up here in Detroit it's pretty much only the dirty that get killed. Ppl that choose that life are the ones that get taken down by it... we don't have a whole lot of casualitys... the occasional ofcourse
~Jessica Opal
You have to know where to be. Don't be ignorant and just wander around. The scary thing is it is reaching into residential areas where it was not typical a few years ago... its becoming unpredictable. Walk with a purpose, and carry some sort of defense.
I say n dah N.O....Dey kill every hour on the hour down here.. its not safe down here no were not even n church.. babies n elderly ppl get killed dey don't discriminate... it ridiculous I lost to many loved one's to murders down here.. I can't wait to move
u know why there isnt no rappers from the DC area... cuz they all bizzy doing the things that rappers talk about in they songs.
its real in the NO got fam there so i go there alot but its not all what its hyped to b

Second largest city in Georgia. - For Violent Crime Georgia had a reported incident rate of 504.7 per 100,000 people. This ranked the state as having the 16th highest occurrence for Violent Crime among the states.

for the state of georgia for cities over 100,000 people.... crime ranks.
atlanta savannah, augusta, columbus
augusta is very dangerous in crime maybe not murders but i lived and have witnessed many murders and it's kept quie.

im from just outside of bham, bout 25 min away! and every weekend its the same gangs go at it and fights. you either walk out stabbed or something, its nothing to joke about! be careful around here and dont walk around at night!
bham been off the chain....ppl think that its a horse and buggy city, and it aint. its nothing to brag about but these cats be wildin for respect and scramblin for a small amount of money. most of the murders are senseless...but im a reformed thug and i know how it is in these streets. its indeed worse than what the ranking suggests.
Yea its way worse than what people say. Or what the TV will show. Im very proud of Bham. It has grown so much. But the crime is rediculous. Its bad when you go to other cities, and when asked where im from, they always replay in "D@#$, Bham is getting crazy, you have to watch the people from there." So how can i possibly school people on the good things in my city when its preconceived to have a shady rep.
I feel ya, Chi-Town bumpin *****s off way more than that.

man its worst than they sayin down here all the murders cant be bein reported

Definitely on of the most dangerous cities in the US! And yes Puerto Rico is part of the US. And since it a well know dangerous city imagine how bad it really since we all know PR is going to put out the real stats because they dont want to loose tourism. So if the stats already say it a bad city, how bad are the real numbers?!
Comments:
If you live in Houston you would write Houston, Texas just like San Juan Puerto Rico I have never seen anyone write Houston, Texas, USA Have you?
You make no sense: "So if it was part of the u,s wouldn't it be San Juan, U.S.A. It's San Juan, PR, but yeah, unfortunately delinquency is high here."
Its San Juan, PR just like Chicago is Chicago, IL and New York City is New York City, NY. San Juan is a city in Puerto Rico which is why its San Juan, PR. But it is city a US city. Its the US common wealth of Puerto Rico. Washington, DC is also a common wealth; but their votes for president count Puerto Rico's votes dont count. All Puerto Ricans are US citizens at birth, PR uses US currency, and you do not need a passport to go to PR. So let me make this easier for you, Its San Juan, PR USA. Is that better?
So if it was part of the u,s wouldn't it be San Juan, U.S.A. It's San Juan, PR, but yeah, unfortunately delinquency is high here.
^^^ I think you meant that PR aren't putting out the real crime stats so its actually much worse, even though the numbers they do release are bad already. It makes sense since they need the money from tourism and no body was to take a vacation to a place the might get killed. I've been there a few times and its beautiful there and i felt some what safe. But that was by the beach in the tourist areas. When i saw the rest of the city it was like night and day. San Juan is definitely a rough city.

I hate all the ghetto people in oakland. I wish the cops would just go take out every gang member
Oakland's cool. We got a district called Oaksterdam with all the pot cafes. It used to be hella crazy in the 80s, but it's actually really nice here now. There's lots of culture, art, and communities. I prefer it over SF.
So a 3 year old getting shot in Oakland is just gangsta. Ur So damn DUMB!
Aint people ever heard of watts, inglewood or common or long beach, shot has so many toe tagged I loved in Detroit, of rather be ther than watts.
I live in the Bay Area and work in Oakland. It's tough up there, but use your head and you'll be alright. Most of the killing is gangtas killin' eachother. Mind your own business and carry some defense and you'll be fine.
This city is the Disneyland for ignorant coons in the bay area (no matter the race) they come here to act up.
Actually, Jerry Brown was a great Mayor. Ron Dellums is our Mayor--fortunately about to leave office.
Expected them to be much higher! Jerry Brown doing a horrible job as Mayor.

It depends on where your living in st. Louis the northside is a bad ass place man.
I have been living in Saint Louis my whole entire life. It is not as bad as people say. Even though I was raped at 12yrs old I still don't have to walk around with a gun at my waste. That's what cowards do. Other then the SLPS is getting worse each year I feel comfortable not safe in Saint Louis. I have 2 little ones and I really don't need to waste time to be scared of anyone killing me when I step out the door.
I grew up in Chicago, I live in Oakland, and St. Louis is bad. You go a half a mile from the arch and you're in the wrong neighborhood. I got a gun pointed at me from the car next to me and I didn't even have my cubs hat on!
omg u people r crazy i have been living here my whole live and have not seen a single murder yet wow some ppl r crazy!!!
I LIVE IN STL and I saw a mail man get shot down the road it was scary
and also underfunded schools are not the reason for a high murder rate
i dont thonk any of yall should talk of this im 17 and seen more murders the a ww2 vet.this is not a laughing matter.ppl are crazy now days and nothin u say will change the way they are.the murder rates will keep rising.we all did this to ourselfs. its all cause of over populated cities/money/drugs/girls/and as simple as the color ur wearing
St.Louis is going crazy cause people are getting killed in u.city, a suburb of St.Louis and the south and north side are getting worse. Maybe it would be better if the city wasn't so racially divided and the predominantly black public schools are under funded and some without credit and unlicensed teachers the St. Louis city schools.
It's a lot more complicated than you just put it. Before you blame a race for ruining society, take a look at your attitude and go educate yourself. La Vidal loca : always running is a powerful book about gang life though not the African American experience - go read it
dumb blacks destroy society in the cities, and then you come on here talk about it like killing people is a good thing because you think you're a ****ing gangster
st.louis is so wild when do you ever here about somebody getting dugg up from there grave and being placed back on theres mother porch
You people are clueless. It's a bad thing to be on this list, not something to be proud of. It's something to be ashamed of.

can we all please stop the crime that is taking place? i am a jehovah witness and the bible tells us we should not kill 1another. lets put an end to this and stop all the violence!! thanks! 12-3-10
as of 11/25/10 st louis is no.1....and gettin worse..the rate is based off the deaths compared to the pop. And the way it's goin, there might not be a st louis left
St. Louis is a scary place to live if you plan to walk around without a gun on your waste. 3 banks have literally been robbed in the last 2 weeks here. Its hell on earth.
St.Louis, Mo & New Orleans hold the record for #1 murder rate in the states for years & years & always been at the top of the charts. Real Talk.
Even though i think the Louis should be ranked #1.....WTF......Its real on the otha side!

Nashville is getting crappy although our police seem to care about doing something about it. Burglary is up 29% since the downturn in the economy. Even the expensive areas have been hit (thieves love those areas). Got updates to my security system after someone broke in (they know they have about 10 minutes with the alarm goes off). The ADT guy says they have been busy lately.

man aint no ****in stripped cars on no city block in camden unless its in the junk yard..yeah its crazy out here but you people need to lay up off the over rated version..its crime here like every where else..you aint just gonna get shot if you come to camden..if you playin that street game you are prey ...simple as that.. its good people here in camden as well as wealthy ...its just so much drugs and people not taking time to raise their kids the right way that they turn to the streets..they want camden the way it is because if they didnt then it would not be this way.. other places are killing the police ..we dont do that..we may shoot at them to avoid aprehension and they may die in the process but killin cops dont happen daily here..and to the ones who may have gotten killed they were dirty cops and violating people because of the power they have..look in the book not just at the cover!
First off, camden is not all that bad! I lived in camden all my life in seen alot of things happen, there tryna pin point camden because camden is a small population. In all honesty, i believe philly is way worser than camden!! All camden need is a little help from the mayor dana redd and govenor chriss fat a##! If im paying taxes they should use it to help camden, in stead of laying off all those cops! I bet u dana redd dnt live out here, n chriss fat a## would not make it out her the minute he came to camden! We are not the bad nor the worst. Camden needs help, yes this is so true, but the people in office needs help too......
hey you do know its not a good thing to be on this list? ahh hell why do i care everyone that added a comment is probably dead any ways
everyones going to disagree but im from new jersey and believe me Camden is no safe city. Its a small city but dont under estimate it either. the killings and crime in this city is so bad. plus know theres barley any police or public enforcement in the city so for 2011 its going to get even worse. dont even get me started about the schools. there the are 316 high schools in new jeresy and the two high schools in camden are the worst rated 315, and 316. think twice before you step foot in camden. dont mess around in this city. saying this for your own saftey. its not the best town but im acually proud to say im from morristown
Only someone who has never been to Camden would ever say that Detroit is worse/more dangerous. I live in Philly (a city that is crazy about murdering people) and I feel safe when I look across the bridge at Camden. The numbers might change year to year but I would bet overall Camden is consistenly the worst city in this country. Now they have no cops. Wowwwww. Wow.
And Camden just layed off 168 cops (nearly half of its entire police force) and 67 firefighter (about 1/3 of its fire department) for 2011. As bad as Camden is allready, its now really going to be a bad year for the city of Camden. Send in the National Gaurd!
the effects of recession are hitting this city hard, but to compare anywhere of the u.s. to a third world country like iraq is pretty ignorant. trust me, there are worse places out there than camden.
Camden has always been in the top 5 worst cities for at least the last 25 years. Has be number one worst more than a few times. The different bettween Camden than Detroit (and most other cities) is Detroit has some nice parts, All of Camden is bad. Shootings everyday, many murders per capita, burnt down building, trash everywhere, striped cars in the street, high poverty rate, its one of the poorest cities in the US. If you have seen Camden for you self you would know what i am talking about, there is a big difference than most dangerous cities on this list then Camden. I mean even googl street view was only allowed to film just a few streets because Camden looks so poor and depressed that the city didnt want the rest of country to how bad there doing.
I've got but one thing to say. Thank God & my parents for having the sense to come over from the U.K. & settle in Canada. Otherwise, I might not even be here now. Thoughts & prayers, go out to all the fallen, especially the innocent kids & adults. The rest of you, well...what can I say? No disrespect, but you play w/fire, you get burned. Simple as that.
^^^ It's called being in the Marines, theres lots of us in this country who have been to baghdad... ever watch the new? We're still there even though they say we pulled out but there are still thousands of us there.
^^^First, it's Baghdad. Second, how often have you driven through Baghdad?
Stay in school.
Most consistantly at the number 1 spot. Always in the top ten since they start the ranking many years ago... this city is like driving through Bagdad.

The Suffering took place at #38 BS Baltimore is way worse than Colorado Springs.
Ignorance is the number one killer in Baltimore City. Poor education in our city schools is another one of the many problems that this city faces. Our youth has a bleak future and they see it everyday in their classrooms. Unfortunately, this bleakness can not be escaped. Every day as I walk and drive the streets of my city I see it crumbling. A high unemployment rate, immoral police officers, approximately 47, 000 abandoned buildings, functioning drug traps and an attitude of not caring about the community and the people that live in it contributes to the current state and the future of Baltimore City. When will people wake up and ask for help? It is not easy, but change must start within the individual. I am a city school teacher and I am dedicated to helping the youth of this city. Everyday I wake up and go to work hoping that I can be a positive influence for a child and change their life for the better in some way shape or form, even if it is on a small scale. Each adult in the city should do the same. Be a positive influence for the youth of Baltimore City. Be the change you want to see in your city. WAKE UP.
Bmore is just full of random foolishness and kids with guns. Money hungry dealers and thieves. I am suprised they're not in the top 5, I think they are trying hard to make it to #1. Just mindless senseless killings every day in the news.
Isn't it funny that no city in Texas makes the list? That's because good law-abiding citizens carry guns down here
I must say , I was born in Brooklyn, South Baltimore and am very familiar with all areas and the wire ...lol depicts the very close to reality. Stick up kids on Hanover murdered my 1 st boyfriend over my $10 gold chain and a pager. My cousin was murdered in a drive by on 10th and stoll. my friend was beat to death in an alley 5 yrs ago and lets tell the truth the rampid crack, dope (heroin), and opiates kill the most of our loved ones, or the hep c gets em first. I have since moved down south, but as bad as it can get I cant say I dont love it! BELIEVE IN B-MORE!!!
I am not sure why this city is so low. It has a murder rate of 41.9 people per 100,000. That is higher than Atlanta, but still lower than New Orleans. This is NOT the murder capital of the US, and the US does not have the murder capital of the world.
come on it's harm city hold it down we all know that the wire wasnt real it was just a watered down view of things if you ever spent a night over west you would know da waxx or over east rose and fayette u know what they call our elementry kid killas in train be real fam
leave that t.v. **** alone. only part i believe is that a flame was runnin yall pockets.
caracas venezuela is the murder capital of the world, they had 531 murders in dec. 09' alone, with a murder rate of around 130 per 100,000 ppl, baltimore isnt even the murder capital of the u.s.
murder capital of the WORLD? Seriously? Maybe you should check on that.
Unfortunately The Wire is hardly far fetched. I can't remember the last damn weekend where there wasn't at least a triple shooting. This is a real damn headline:
"Last night 3 people shot at least one killed after a neighbor unwittingly drives off with drugs stored in their wheel well.
Meanwhile, 10 and 11 year old arrested after bringing gun to school."
Baltimore is nicknamed 'MobTown' on account of the mobs within the city. Per capita, it's the Murder Capital of the world; with only 700,000 or so people it has 6x the murder rate of DC, Los Angeles, and NYC combined
39.
I sit and read blogs about crime in these different cities. Most of these cities share something in common--a known history of crime. The good part of having a known history is it brings awareness to individuals visiting, but when city officials hide statistics like those relevant to yes Mobile, AL its another issue. People visit with the understanding of Mobile being similar to what the name may suggest--not much. Upon a closer look of the seemingly friendly residents would reveal a much darker secret. The demeanor of the residents is NOT what is appears to be. Just because they seem friendly doesn't mean they don't prey. Murders for the last FBI statistics in 2009 revealed Mobile, AL as a small city (half the size of New Orleans) holding the [3rd highest murder rate] in the United States and [7th] among the world. So to all that have roots stemming from these parts and/or plan to visit, don't underestimate what you see. When one underestimates is when one goes wrong. I would hate to read about one of the readers of this blog being shipped back home to their nefarious cities in a freezer because one misjudged their surroundings.
Comments:
Mobile is not asafe place. I live here. I see two to three muders in the news every day. They may only be a mile or two from the city limits and probably would not add to the number, even more hiding the problem this city has. If you visit please carry a loaded gun.. i do
I've been to Mobile many times. There's a few bad parts, but it's not bad at all.
LMAO @ "3rd highest murder rate in the US and 7th in the world". Mobile's not even the highest in its state (im pretty sure Birmingham is waaaay worse) how is it the 3rd highest in the US. And 7th in the world LOL!! Who ever posted this just make their city look bad and into a joke. If they would have just posted real stats instead of some make believe (3rd in US/7th in world! lol) stats Mobile probably would get more respect instead of all this laughter.
^^^CONTINUED: Since 2006 is the only year i can find the number of murders for all of the cities listed lets go with that: in 2006; Mobile(200k) had 34 murders which is a Murder Rate of about 17 per 100k; Camden(80k) had 32 murder which is a Murder Rate of about 40 per 100k; Flint, MI(125K) had 54 murders which is a Murder Rate of about 43.2 per 100k; Irvington NJ(55k) had 23 murders which is a Murder Rate of about 42 per 100k; Detroit(920k) had 391 which is a Murder Rate of about 42 per 100k; New Orleans(330k) had 162 murders with a Murder Rate of 49 per 100k; St. Louis(350k) had 129 murders with a Murder Rate of about 37 per 100k, and Gary IN(100k) had 44 murders which is about 44 per 100k. And these are just a handfull of the many cities that have a much, much higher murder rate than Mobile dont get me started on the others like Richmond CA, Richmond Va, Oakland, Newark Nj, Compton, Birmingham AL, Memphis, Trenton NJ, Hartford CT, ect. ect. But i do agree with that all murders are senseless, just not that Mobile is anywhere close to being ranked higher for murder or overall crime than dozens of cities that can be name, not saying Mobile isnt dangerous just not on the level of some other cities and definiitely not 3rd hightest murder rate in US or 7th in the world!!
^^^In reply to "Schoolboy". No the comment above yours said that some of the cities listed above have double sometimes triple the murder RATE of Mobile not "in terms of numbers" as you put it. That mean per 100k. The term "Murder Rate" already means per 100k and not raw total numbers of murders. Obviously cities like LA and New York City have more murders per year, they have millions more people! But their murder Rate is much lower than Mobile. The cities that were listed above (Camden, Detroit, Flint, Irvington NJ, NO, St Louis, Gary IN) do have double and some years triple the Murder Rate (remember per 100k) of Mobile, AL. And more than half the cities mentioned above have a similar or smaller population than Mobile. But since you asked for them here you go: Mobile, about 200k; Camden about 80k; Flint, MI about 125k; Irvington, NJ about 55k; Gary,IN about 100k; New Orleans about 330k; St. Louis about 350k, and Detroit about 920k. Regardless of their population all of the cities listed above whether smaller or larger they have a much higher Murder Rate (per 100k) than Mobile AL and their is no way that Mobile has the 3rd highest murder rate in the US or 7th highest in the world, not even close!! Since 2006 is the
Murder statistics are based on population in terms of per 100k. You said yourself that some of the cities listed have doubled or even tripled in terms of the number of murders within the city, but you failed to mentioned the population of these cities. As you mentioned, murders are measured on a per 100k scale. If you take a closer look at some of these cities where the population more than quadruple that of Mobile, AL you will see how the FBI ranked Mobile as being third; furthermore, you should be able to see that some of these cities you are listing actually have relatively lower percentages of murders per 100k. The stats are there. Check for yourself. Moreover, the intent of the initial comment wasn't to draw doubters like yourself who are smart, but not smart enough to perform thorough research, the focal point is to highlight caution and awareness because [any] number of murders is senseless.
Wow not even close to having the 3rd highest murder rate in the US or 7th in the world. Mobile isnt even in the top 60 in the US let alone the world! Mobile has a population of about 200,000 people and in 2009 had ONLY 24 murders. Thats a murder rate of only 12 per 100k! Now if you go off the number of murders in mobile in 2008 (which is what i think you're refering too, the list of the FBI stats that came out in 2009 are for 2008 number, every year the list is for the year before) there were a lot more murder, 42. But even with 42 murders in a city with 200k that 21 murders per 100k. Cities like Camden, NJ; Detroit/Flint, MI; Irvington, NJ; New Orleans; St. Louis; Gary, IN all double and sometime even triple that murder rate. So to say Mobile has the 3rd hightest murder rate in the US and 7th highest in the world is completely false! There are dozens of cities with higher murder rates in the US!

for all yall retards out there san antonio is actually pretty bad , i live colse to there and have since i was born. every day when i watch the news there's almost a shooting every day, it s the 7th biggest city in the u.s. you never know what can happen , i thought it would atleast be in the top 20
Nothing bad happens here. At least nothing beyond fairly frequent break ins and robberies. Of course I live in the Northeast side, but it's not as if we're on the border. SA is about as far as most illegal immigrants go. They usually aren't the really bad ones either.
S.A . TX is as close as it gets to third world! on the south side you don't even feel like your in u.s.! over 1000 different gangs. murder rate.home invasions. under age drinking. cocaine flooding over the border. salinas C.A. more dangerous??nope i live in both places
San Antonio? Not even close to the other cities mentioned here. Just don't mess with drugs and you will be fine.
What a joke San Antonio should even be mentioned on this list... maybe its the worst to you because u live by there but there are dozens of cities that make San Antonio look like candyland lmao what a joke... i have to give it to Camden, NJ. Not from there (im from B-More, fo life) but drove thru there a few time, that place is no joke, its like taking the worst block in baltimore and putting all over one city, that what camden was like.
XD It makes me laugh to see San Antonio on this list... hahahaha

Ive been living in Richmond for 21 years and now going on 22 years and Richmond isnt that bad at all.Yeah there are crimes here and there but what city doesn't have them? As for as having gangs here. HA! I've never seen any so cut that lie out. The only crime Richmond really has is the crime of having horrible landlords and apartments rent being too damn expensive with their roach problems
i dont no y dey got richmond va up here because dey no norfolk va go way harder and u no we stay blooded shot out to my hood norview a.k.a warview
i recently moved to southern VA but was staying in Richmond before actually relocating. Within the first week of being there I was almost raped twice, saw numerous drug dealers walking around flashing guns and prostitutes, and poverty everywhere. Not the place for me
Richmond is a great city but the drugs play a major part in the crime rate. Murders daily but the surrou ding counties are wonderful and full of great schools and communities filled with successful society
My hometown, always was violent since crack hit in the 80's, very unfortunate. Now there are gangs you say...
2nd smallest Capt. in the nation..... Too many people, no space...

WOW! I can't believe Texarkana is really coming back. Back in the early 20th century it was the murder capital of the world, and its coming back.
Texarkana is a hot spot for city folk that want to leave the city, texarkana dont have natural born gangs. they all come from big cities

ive lived in vegas 4 the past 28 years and its gotten 1000% worse over the years. im surprised that vegas ranks so low on the scale. i figured #2 or #3 on this list.
I lived in Vegas in the 90's & 00's Westside (like b/w MLK & Rancho and in North Las Vegas near Cheyenne & Civic Center lots of gangs lots of death up close & personal. Very bad scene surprised it's not higher, diluted by the burbs I guess.. Dangerous place to live.
The west side of vegas is fancy (summerlin) so i beg to differ on the comment 2 above mine... grimmy place is east side of vegas and north town in some parts.... either way it isnt as bad as other cities as you can see the list! 702 holla
I live in Vegas too. It's nothin to be proud of to be on this list to be honest but, of your going to put us on the list put us in the right spot. We are top 30 at least
i live in las vegas, and its all suburbs here the only thing i would worry about is the RETARDED drivers....north town isnt the place to be though!

Im from little rock, and have lived here my entire life with the exception of college. Where its true there is a high crime rate its nothing compared to how bad it was in the early 90s. Yes the ghettos are bad and the murder rate is high, but its really not that bad in the right parts
I now live in Little Rock and kept hearing about how horible this place is. It appears to have a murder rate 3 to 4 times higher than average but the population is approx 200K with a large portion of that as minorities to which the murder rate is focused. Having lived in Memphis, Boston, and Chicago I am not intemidated. The ghettos as stated above is not much at all...doesn't even come close to Chicago or Memphis. You just have to know your surrondings at all times but that is common sense in cities.

I wish there was a like button on here. I like this person's comment and couldn't agree more. Everybody from all these major cities needs to realize they're are in CITIES, in which fortune 500 companies are located, which means there is an ass load of opportunity, with major universities as well as smaller community colleges. Get an education, a job while enrolled in school, then a career. There is no more time for sheer ignorance, it's 2011.

Lived there for 9 mos. near Lincoln Park , it was the worst 9 mos, of my life. I lived in one of the "better" parts of Newark and I was robbed at gunpoint once and had my car windows smashed out twice. The worst part is that a cheap apartment in Newark will still cost you $700 a month for a studio. Stay the hell away from this madness.
its real crazy out here; be safe once you step foot in newark everyman for itself

is one of the highest crime areas in the bay area. There is an area called Point Richmond that is decent. The whole place is near a massive refinery Richmond is one of the worst place, if not the worst place, to live in the SF Bay area. I would not let my kids walk on the streets of Richmond.
ichmond has a reputation for being extremely dangerous. It is often vilified in the media, as its citizens are often the victims or perpetrators of gang violence, shoot-outs and drive-by shootings.[3] Drug dealing and drug possession are common. The area is also worked by crack dealers and prostitutes. The community has been described by county officials as a "magnet" for illegal dumping.[10][11]
The community is one of the most dangerous in the state and nation.[3
The city has a reputation for being crime-plagued, although this problem is centralized in the urban core, with many parts of Richmond having a low crime rate. But the city's own police department has described the city as having a chronic violent crime problem for "decades" and in 2010 was ranked as the 6th most dangerous city in the United States.[2][3][4][5][6]

What!? Detroit is the nation's most dangerous city and consistently gets over 300 homicides a year with a population under 800,000. Top 5 for sure. Oh, and don't go outside at night
detorit you need to see it to belive it but flint,MI every day 4 or 5 muders a day 3 brake ins 2 fires 3 stabbings 8 hommisisdes
All i know is that i live 3 miles away from 8 mile and when i looked around that area it looked like every one wanted to kill one another. The D has gotten bad we need to pull it together
yo I was sure that the D was in the top ten number 70? that was a surprise
yeah Detroit is bad and all but there are also some really nice parts too..

Some hater has nothing to do all day but move a city up 100 points in a day. What a jerk!
I grew up in detroit and made it to the south where my family is at. While in detroit my moms struggled to take care of us, our house was shot up and i had to hustle. Detroit aint a bad place to be at, it is just a bad time for the D. Jobs are very few and far between and people are starving. I made it through and so have others...KEEP YA HEAD UP DETROIT...WEST SIDE ALL DAY.
Murder Capital is defined as the city of at least 100,000 residents with the most non-negligent homicides per 100,000 residents. Bureau of Justice Statistics website shows that the most recent year Detroit suffered that distiction was 1987 so that was the last year Detroit was the actual Murder Capital. People need to stop badmouthing Detroit
Detroit is one of those cities, if ur from a decent township and u head out to Detroit and take a drive through it and look left to right as u are driving through it, it kinda makes u put things into perspective. So far as I may not have everything I don't need everything, but the people that live dotted throughout the communitty in some spots have the bare minnimum such as a person sitting on the front porch of a hallowed out home that still has the charred remmains of a fire that could of took place anywhere from the 1960's riots that were so bad that the national gaurd had to pull troops out of Vietnam to maintain the chaos, or it could have been from a moltov cocktail that a gangmember threw into the window just weeks before. Eighther way when u see something like that u know damn well that person has no electricity no water no food no anything, and that is when it comes to a matter of survival like standing out on a street corner selling crack rocks and climbing through somebodys window at three O clock in the morning to loot everything and sell it too a pawn shop to support ur habbit and thats why we have crime like we do a lot of these people are raised in bad ways and they grow up to not know any better than to not give a **** anymore not only that but the educational system as well as the justice system in this country are nothing more than an utter ****ing JOKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I suppose it's hard to work a legitimate job when you can barely speak legitimate words.
yeah! take a life for something you could earn in 10 min at a legit job. THINK MAN!

So I live between the number 1 and 2 murder capitals in the us.... hmmm..... And I'm right next to Ponti-Crack and that isn't even on this list. Wtf is up with this crazy state damn.
Kid Rock - Times like these. cant say the D dont have nothin to offer unless uv been there and lived that life. back to the wall fist flyin... town isnt goin down without a fight.
I am 22 and I have gone to 12 funerals in the last 4 yrs. All but two were ODs or accidents while on something. I left then came back to finish school once I graduate I won't come back again.
Then why stay, they also have the highest unemployment. That place has nothing to offer..
I'm from Wayne county... same county as Detroit. Someone got murdered 40 feet from my car a couple days ago. My friends dad got murdered in a bar parking lot about a month ago. A girl I grew up with got murdered a year ago... It goes on and on

Detroit is back to making that money, you can't get money from a dead man... except that last time.

Wow I grew up in Irvington and left in 84 and its terrible to hear that things have gotten that bad,I was there in 2007 and things definitely have changed it is sad.
Yeah Irvington is pretty scary... sill think Camden is worse... got followed and had two cars attempt to pin me in the pine barrens.... they followed me from Camden!
Irvington is up there with smaller cities u don't here about like East St Louis & Harvey, IL
I work EMS in Irvington, and the stuff you see is absolutely ridiculous.
Irvington is crazy.. makes Newark look nice and Newark is bad as hell! Irvington, Camden, Detroit are definitely the worst places i ever been to followed by Newark, Oakland/Richmond CA, San Juan Puerto Rico, Memphis (in some parts), New Orleans, Baltimore, Trenton, and Hartford. Atlanta and Compton didnt really seem extremly bad compared to a lot of the places i've seen but i was only there at those two place in the day time, im sure its much worse at night (Compton looked like a nice suburb though). Most of the other places on this list i havent been to so i cant coment on them. Detroit had some nice parts too. Camden and Irvington have like one or two nice blocks in the whole city. Too many murders in Irvington and they need clean all the trash on the streets and knock down and rebuild all the burnt down and vacant house's, same for Camden.
Irvington only has 70,000 ppl which is 5,000 ppl short of the 75,000 needed to make the list that come out every year. Most years its worse than even Camden but definitly would make the top 10 every year if it had a lil more ppl.

I live in the Slavic village area too. It really isn't that bad here. Its more or less being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
There isnt even anything to do, all cities except for toledo and youngstown should be on this list every other city in ohio aint ****
Nearly all of those murders take place in 'East Cleveland,' which is fairly far away from downtown. I've had some of the best times of my life in Cleveland, it's very safe in downtown. I believe Cleveland is a great city with some of the most passionate and dedicated fans in sports. By the way, I do not blame the fans for hating Lebron. I think he's an *******.
man im from the soutside of da land and **** come up missin so i believe the ranks Da land *****s !!!
No Wonder Lebron got the heck out of there... And then people of Cleveland get mad at him, well damn get mad at yourself for allowing all this crap to go on in your city..
I am from Slavic Vilage (E.65) and in 2 days i lost my father and cousin.....
really 420,000? Thats like reducing L.A. to the small cluster of people inhabiting the inner downtown area. Cleveland in reality is much bigger and more spread out than this and easily passes 1 million people. Columbus is now 1 mill+ and i'm sure Cincy is close

I like Philly and have lived in either Roxborough or the Northeast all my life. Most people here try to get along and you get street smart pretty fast. I can tell a pavement ape from an ordinary person and there are definitely areas and situations to avoid. All things considered, Philly has a lot to offer and I hope it doesn't become another Detroit.
This is my birth city, and it is a disgrace what see there now. What the heck are people glamourizing this for. its not great to be getting murdered. i love my city, but people.....do better.
I visited Philly in 08 for the Penn relays, and this is the only city where I have ever felt unsafe! I wish I could have brought my heat! The streets are filthy, goons everywhere, prostitutes, drugs, and did I say goons everywhere? Lol. I went there solo, which I am accustomed to traveling solo, and I ran to my car every night. The streets look like something out of a batman movie. I had fun, and met some fly females, and a couple of cool brothers. But you can feel the imminent danger in the air! I think the only reason no real funk popped off is because the goons were pre occupied with the Penn relay parties, and festivities. Even though this club I went to that had metal detectors had a couple of beat downs occur! I'm not saying I would never go back. If they held a major event like all star weekend or superbowl I would go back, but it's my least favorite city that I have been too, and I have been to a lot of major cities!
the only thing in love park to worry about is bums asking for spare change or cigarettes. Center City is safe as fort knox. I'd walk down broad and chestnut at 3 am without a worry.
philly is the real deal if you never been here trust me dont come
Naples(Italy) is still the most beautiful city in the world..We Americans love Naples!
I was shocked when I went to Philly last year. I vacationed when I was younger to Philly but this was a different city than what I remember. In my adult life, I have never felt as unsafe as I did in that city. In the Love Park, in broad daylight on a Saturday afternoon, my friend and I had to basically run out of the park in fear for our lives. It is also filthy - trash everywhere.
dangerous north phila, northeast, southwest, west, sp. uptown and downtown!!!
Naples is beautiful too. Doesn't mean there isn't alot of killing going on. Its business not personal.....sometimes.
i'm from philadelphia, born & raised. there is no way it is even CLOSE to Naples.. Philly's a beautiful city.

being young n having joined a notorious tulsa street gang i have seen alot of **** from prostitution, rape, trafficking to murder. media mainstream hypes these citites up so much that people do stupid stuff like leave "we kill you we real" comments on websites like this. but its not a cool or glamourous life. from 14 to 18, i went to 24 funerals and over 40 life sentencings. theres nothing cool about seeing people you know lying in a box with his eyes glued shut or watching them be taken away for the rest of their lives.
i love tulsa but i will never go back.

No, Cincinnati had some bad years (2005/2006) but its definitely not in the 10 or even 20 but should be in the top 40. There are a lot of bad cities in the US.

I've lived in this area all my life, most people don't know how it runs around here but its just the biggest town in the Salinas Valley(Salad Bowl) meaning to see how dangerous it really is you have to look at 6 towns combined and see the gang war is fought in each and every one of em with everyone knowing everyone in all these towns, incredibly dangerous to wear red or blue, or own a car that looks thugged out in red or blue, infact I seen an old lady get shot at for sporting a red outfit, same with anyone wearing blue, guns getting pulled out at a party are usual, ALL the murders are gang related, and there aint many murders, only about 30 a year in salinas alone but a lot higher number of attempted murders in each town, but cops can't do much
If the police don't do something soon Salinas will be top 10 in the USA in the next 5 years. Its fueled by mexican gang related murders. Northerners V.S. Southerners. Gang crimes are starting to spread into the high end near by cities like Carmel, Pebble Beach, and Monterey. Its extremely sad.

I thought Milwaukee would be way higher on the list, milwaukee is not a fun play to live, to start the year, 5 murders in 5 days
I agree with the person that said Milwaukee is a great place to live which that's so true. I moved to the south for a year and half I couldn't wait to get back up here. The south is so bad and it's suppose to be the best place to live, not. I'm a criminal justice student and we do research on crimes and we are one of the best places to live. Be very proud of your states Wisconsin is a beautiful place, and I love Milwaukee.
They claim the murder rate has gone down, but its kind of hard for me to believe that. I live north of Marquette and i won't go out of my apartment alone after dark. I hear gunshots at least once a week and there is rarely anything written about it in the papers.
Milwaukee is nowhere near that bad. Milwaukee is one of the most beautiful cities in the country, and although like any place there are a few places to avoid, it is quite safe overall. I wouldn't trade it for anyplace.
event the suburbs are crazy...like the other day some guy shot his wife...then himself while there kid was locked in room...that happened 2 blocks from my dads house...where i used to live

how is new york city even up here! They only have like 500 murders a year its 8 million people tht live in the city. Please! Lol. Lol. Lol. Stop the ignorance people this is not the crack era! Its ova just like the high murder rate in the city!
What a joke! You ppl must know nothing other than what you see in movies. NYC is not a bad city at all! This shouldnt even be on this list at any number. Maybe if you were talk about a bad section of nyc like East NY, Brooklyn; or the South Bronx (where im from) but even if you broke it down like that we (nyc) wouldnt even be in the top 40. My entire bourough of The Bronx averages about 55-60 murders a year in the last 10 years. 56 murders in 2006 for the entire Bronx compared to Camden, NJ which had 48 murders! The Bronx has a population of about 1,400,000, and 60 murders; while Camden, NJ only has population of 80,000 with 48 murders ! So you do the math! Which city sounds bad now? Maybe its overkill to compare the bronx to camden (one of the worst cities in the US) but thats one of many example of cities worse than the bronx, or any section of new york and the city as a whole. All these ppl voting for nyc as on of the most dangerous cities have no idea about places with real crime and probably live in a nice suburb and watch tv and think oh nyc must be exactly like the movie new jack city. You make real ppl who actually like in these cities laugh at you. Stop watching movies and do some research for stats or better yet actually go to these cities for yourself.
nobody respects gangster losers nor your hoods! all we want is for all of you to kill each other and go to jail, then become each others boyfriends in there. if you had any real balls, you would man up and become something great and prestigious, not a gangster loser!!!
Listen. I don't know why these idiots are posting dumbass comments about the Bronx, but it is nothing like what they are saying.

that's sad ireally wanted to live in nyc ,but it seems its full of dumb ass people who want to waste the little time they have left on earth by killing others...........

I just went on vacation there for a week... I must not have seen this side.
we are lossing homes, bussiness and so forth because there is no control yes. however i would not blame the black population. i blame the lack of control that there is in the city. lack of control of the police, the parents, the schools. and the lack of control of oneself.
we are full of welfare recepients that are able to get up and work, but no, they would rather sit on the porch w/ a 40 and and a bag. laziness.
my husband and i tell our kids that u can be anything that u want but a burden on society. no one else should have to pay ur bills while u are getting your nails done or some new wheel for ur ride. and the money to get this done is coming from the state. lovely. tax dollars from the working man wheather it be pt or ft is paying for ur lazy ass.
i have so many thoughts about this place i could probably write a book and make millions,,, lets just say that i am tottally disgusted at what youngstown has become and will be sooo much worse in the years to come. y,,, because really no one has control over the situation. the parents, the autorites, the schools, and **** even the mayor (HA) has no control. we are a city that has destroyed itself. we are our own worse enemy......
downtown isn't even bad. north, east, west, and specifically south are terrible neighborhoods. thought the northside was ok before i saw a guy sprinting down 422 in front of the projects with a pistol in his hand.
YT all day!!! (: but wth? when they finna rebuild all our houses?! that aint coo...YT is a rouqh ass area thouqh. It qets real scary, and it aint safe. PPL dont realize dat sh*t. I am from flint I live in Shreveport la. Now and have been gone for ten years making a living in the construction world I have no family here and plan on moving back to flint soon to be close by to them to it might be bad but id rather be there but we need more go getters and positive thinkers to help us some we all have a decision to make can we all the people of flint come together and turn things around we all can do one deed a day im not gonna preach no more I just love flint I plan on coming home and running for mayor make a real change. Vote Lewis
Flint is goin down b/c there are no jobs here...people have to pay bills sum how...so they do what they gotta do to make it...stell,rob,kill,hook....it will be a ghost town befor we know it!....Some peoples kids are seeing it all growing up so thats all what some people know!...I blame tha city for it goin to hell....if there were jobs it wouldnt be like this....but its all about survival NOW!
Based on numbers from FBI Uniform crime reports of 2010 Flint had 53 murders And a population of 109,000 Which did not make it the Murder Capital. Looks like Flint people overstated numbers like big brother Detroit has been doing for a long time.
The final number was actually 70 in 2010, which brings the numbers up a bit more. The reason that in my opinion Flint, as a resident here for 20 years, is worse than any other city in the nation is not because we have such a high murder rate that it's not comparable to other cities. There are plenty of other cities with 70 murders per 100k people. But there are not many other cities that have experienced the economic downfall that Flint has in the past 30 years. Even AFTER 2010 we've already cut 25% of our police force, and barely have any firemen left in 2011. I dare say by the time this year ends, we'll have a triple digit murder rate. I'm not proud of it by any means, but it is what it is.
65 homicides 102000 population 2010. U do the math. Highest murder rate in the nation. ESC
It is sad as hell that some of you are proud of ruining what once was a thriving city. You talk like you're out there killing for money, respect and power when really you're all a bunch of cowards.. Robbing and killing so you can support your drug habits instead of trying to legitimately earn a living. I feel bad for you and (heaven help them if you have them) your children. One thing you can always count on is there is a bunk waiting for you, three meals a day, and even a sorry excuse for a weight pit.
Is that when you'll say when Bubba got you bent over in your prision cell? Respect us....Okay.
I grew up in Flint, and I can make a good bet in saying those making racist comments are NOT from Flint. One of the things Flintstones LIKE about Flint is our racial diversity.
The murder rate is out of control and always has been, and it's depressing. I had two relatives and five friends murdered while growing up.
And as a further response to those making racist comments, the racial make up of the seven murderers of the people I knew who were murder victims growing up: Five were White, One was Asian, One was Black.
statistics show what they show about racial diversity...it is not a racist comment to say "bc everyone is black" it is a fact no matter where you are. Due to the lack of father figures and healthy family upbringing etc. You can say the same with the hispanic crime around TX and Mexico due to racial diversity.
I am from Flint and I love it and consider it home! It pisses me off to read comments of hate and racial prejudice when you know nothing of the people that actually live there.
We are high in unemployment and even higher in population ratios for living capacity. That does not make us all bad or less than equal people. WE ARE NOT ALL BLACK EITHER ~ AND WHAT THE HECK DOES THAT EVEN MEAN? How rude some people are ... racist idiots I say.
yea, way to be proud. think about it, your proud to live in filth and hatred. Its all part of Filt's self-destruction. some people are proud, I'm ashamed.
It is very sad and pathetic to see morons bragging about a city being on this list. This is for all the idiot gang bangers out there. you are a waste of of good breathing air. You are nothing but a piece of trash. no person cares about you. you are a buch of animals. no person cares if you die. Isn't that sad to you? I bet not.
^^^Huh? I think you commented on the wrong city. This Flint not Detroit.
I like how the first guy is bragging that his city has a high murder rate. that's nothing to brag about. Im from Detroit (don't live their anymore) and its sad to see almost everyone says it has nothing to offer and its going to look like an Armageddon city in time, because its actually quite hard to argue against that
I agree with the guest who said 'high crime' is nothing to brag about. The page is just to aware persons where it is not safe. I'm from St. Louis and moved away because of high crime. And while I know crime is everyone since criminal mentality is a spirit that breathes hot and heavy, where I live now is much more peaceful. And yet, I'm not happy my hometown is wreaked with crime. Very sad, as I still have family who live there.
I think this page is more to tell people of the us where its not so safe to live if youre a good hard working person possibly trying to raise a family...not a place to brag about the attrocities that the good people have to endure in that area because of a few misguided souls.a simple shift in attitude of one person could set a good example for others and the future generations. I mean the children in these areas that get put in the middle of this for no reason are probably terrified! Traumatising innocent children by taking away their loved ones over stupidity and an egocentric value system is really not what you should want for yourselves! Please dont knock change until youve tried it! Love eachother already! Its 2010 we should know better by now

It's where Anthony "the Hatch" Chiaramonti was shot outside a Brown's Chicken & Pasta...south suburban Lyons. The mob is still alive and well in Chicago. Look it up for yourselves!

SEE MY COMMENT FOR THE AURORA, IL POST- Because of how false the Aurora, IL post was i decided to look up the stats for all the towns on this site that are from IL.

Nicknamed "Murderapolis" (there was even t-shirts) in the 90's, things have calmed down a bit from the days when the murder rate was regularly around 25-30k per 100k. However, if it's North side was its own city, it would easily rival some of the top 10-20 cities annually. A large Somali immigrant population is threatening the stability as Somali gangs have begun to form. Maybe Prince can revise "Sign O the Times".

I used to live on the northside. It is no joke. Other parts of mpls are dumpy like east phillips and other parts of south, but north takes the cake. It has def calmed down since the 90s, but gunshots still ring out day and night. For being a community of under 100,000 people, per capita the northside is comparable to Gary, Detroit, Baltimore, etc...
North Minneapolis is the only part that's really bad. I lived in Minneapolis for years growing up and it's just like anywhere you go there are bad parts. It has become worse over the recent years but still, its a great place to live.
Most of North is tame now except the Phillips neighborhood That place will make Chuck Norris curl up and suck his thumb.
I've driven through nearly every major ghetto in the US and in only 3 neighborhoods was I actually scared for my life: Detroit, the South side of Memphis and the North side of Minneapolis. Everywhere else I felt fairly comfortable but in the North side of Minneapolis they must shoot out the streetlights because the streets where pitch black.
