Imagine you have the time to see the most species on exhibit in the USA - it will take you days, but give it a try. A new major exhibit is added each year and almost the entire zoo has been built with donations from wealthy Omaha natives - amazing really
This is a fantastic zoo. We enjoyed our time there well worth the trip.

In a book written years ago (titled 'The Best') two Ivy League grad students rated the Milwaukee Zoo #1 and the San Diego Zoo #2.
Obviously, other cities have caught up, but remember, Jack Hanna is a TV personality and may have influenced the polls. The ratings are very inconsistent on the search bar tool.
I haven't been to the Milwaukee Zoo in a long time but they used to have the largest of any species: Gorillas, snakes, etc. and the first zoo with a moat and open setting.
I'll be at the VA in Milwaukee for 9 straight weeks for cancer treatment; I'll have to visit the zoo and see if it's still 'the best' or has been surpassed by San Diego, Bronx, Columbus, etc.
