Top US Zoos

Imagine you have the time to see the most species on exhibit in the USA - it will take you days, but give it a try. A new major exhibit is added each year and almost the entire zoo has been built with donations from wealthy Omaha natives - amazing really

This is a fantastic zoo. We enjoyed our time there well worth the trip.

Best Zoo hands down! Just put in a new sea lion exhibit which is amazing. Next they are rebuilding all of the bear exhibits which should be phenomonal.

In a book written years ago (titled 'The Best') two Ivy League grad students rated the Milwaukee Zoo #1 and the San Diego Zoo #2. Obviously, other cities have caught up, but remember, Jack Hanna is a TV personality and may have influenced the polls. The ratings are very inconsistent on the search bar tool. I haven't been to the Milwaukee Zoo in a long time but they used to have the largest of any species: Gorillas, snakes, etc. and the first zoo with a moat and open setting. I'll be at the VA in Milwaukee for 9 straight weeks for cancer treatment; I'll have to visit the zoo and see if it's still 'the best' or has been surpassed by San Diego, Bronx, Columbus, etc.

It is amazing. Our kids love it as do the adults. We go 2 times a month in the spring and summer. Its a must see for families!

The Oklahoma City Zoo features more than 2,500 exotic species on 115 lushly-planted acres, including a children's zoo, and state-of-the-art primate and lion exhibits. They also play host to a number of paid and free concerts at the Zoo Amphitheatre. The children and Jr. Zookeepers programs always keep our children engaged and interested in the Zoo.

The N.C. zoo is fantastic. Make sure that you wear comfortable shoes.

This year they are adding an $8.5 million dollar expansion to the polar bear exhibit. It wasn't open in august yet, but we saw a preview and it was beautiful.

This is the largest natural habitat walk through zoo in the country. Easily one of the best zoos with over 500 acres of land for the animals.

Just opened Penguin Pavilion! Polar bear exhibit, Elephant walk, Chimpanzee habitat are just a few of the excellent features in Kansas City's Swope Park Zoological Gardens.

Wonderful setting, wonderful layout and excellent staff

Summer temps soar to over 100, not recommended. It cools off around November. It was a better zoo 20 years ago. The animals are alone in cages. The cages are small and not very well enhanced. This zoo needs a serious makeover.
