It is the American Football championship. It is one of the most watched sport events in the world. More than that, the Americans have adopted the day it is held as a national holiday.

It is the oldest and the most famous tennis tournament. The tournament took place for the first time in London’s suburb, Wimbledon, in 1877.

In1892, the first hockey championship was held. It started as a competition for amateurs, but it tuned into a professional one in 1926. Now, it is the most important event for hockey players.

It is the most important and famous cycling event. It is held annually in France and the countries next to France. Cyclists from all over the world come here to compete for three weeks, riding about 3600 kilometers.

Held annually in early June at Epsom racecourse in Surrey. It is a two day flat racing fixture featuring of course the 'Epsom Derby'. Standout names include Nijinsky, Mill Reef, Galileo and Sea The Stars. The 'Oaks' is the fillies equivalent of the Derby. The 'Coronation Cup' is also a useful race.

Held annually at Ascot Racecourse in October. This new one day flat racing event introduced in 2011 having been transferred from Newmarket. It brings together the very best fillies & mares, sprinters, flat stayers, milers and ten furlong horses. The Champion Stakes and the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes are two of the most valuable races in Europe.

This is a four day National Hunt racing fixture held annually in March. Before 2005, it was a three day fixture. The Champion Hurdle and the Gold Cup are the principal races. Past legends include Golden Miller, Arkle and Dawn Run as well as recent heroes like Moscow Flyer, Istabraq, Best, Mate, Big Bucks, Quevega and Kauto Star.

Inaugurated 1983 in Helsinki, Finland. It also hosted the 2005 championships as well. London will host these championships in August 2017 on the back of a hugely successful 2012 Olympics.
