The Things They Carried - Tim O'Brien Report Abuse
A story about some friends who were all in war together. Sounds like thousands of other books. But this one is different. This is about the effects of war on one's body, mind, soul, memory... It is about what you remember versus reality and what you want to remember to make everything okay.

Fight Club - Chuck Palahniuk Report Abuse
If you have seen the movie and have had your mind absolutely blown, put back together, and blown again, then I am sure you see the appeal of this book. As always, Palahniuk is both shocking and inappropriate but the way he bends the reader's mind, and the character's minds as well, is truly amazing.

Where the Heart Is - Billie Letts Report Abuse
This book is a part of Oprah's book club. Please don't hold that against it because it is so worth reading. The story of a girl who is so down on her luck, who really has no luck at all, and who finds herself after being dropped off in the middle of nowhere, is so inspiring. This book is funny, sweet, entertaining, and a real page-turner. The movie is decent too.

The Notebook - Nicholas Sparks Report Abuse
This book has turned into one of the most popular movies of all time. The love story of Noah and Alli is one that everyone wishes they had. While reading, and forever after, you know that no two people could ever love each other as much as they have. I cried... and cried... and cried. Such a fantastic and heart warming story.

The Virgin Suicides - Jeffrey Eugenides Report Abuse
If you have not read this book then I apologize for any spoilers I am throwing out here... but a book about an entire family of girls who are so unhappy that they are all suicidal is so heartwrenching and almost disgusting. It gets to the point where you don't even want to read it anymore because it is so sad but you have to keep reading, looking for a light at the end of the tunnel - to never find it.
