Perhaps the best-known American playwright, Williams wrote A Streetcar Named Desire, The Glass Menagerie, and Cat on Hot Tin Roof; he won Pulitzer Prizes for Streetcar and Cat.

won the pulitzer prize for drama twice with the plays 'The Piano Lesson' and 'Fences'. One of the greatest African American (or maybe just American) Playwrights of the century.
