I think he is overrated. He was a perfect forwarder but he lacked totally in defender qualities. Therefore he had his problems in modern football and he is not on the same level as footballers who were top on each position.

Some say one of the best forwarder ever. Perhaps the strongest dribbler of all times. Ask the English national defenders of his time. The Brits even made a song praising him: "Rummenigge, Rummenige, what a man!" In his two world championship he was not fit, unfortunatley for teh Germans, because they lost both finals. With a Rumenigge in top form, they could have made it very likely.

Plus after his time (i think 8 years) in jail he played awesome football in the highest soviet league which was one of the top leagues in the world at that time. That was really an awesome guy. I mean, just think about it!
