Jacqueline Gilbert

She's not a very prolific author and many die hard M&B fans may not know her. Her books are pure quality and redefined romance for me. Try some of her books like Country Cousin, Every Wise Man and Dear Villain. I promise you won´t be dissapointed.

Agree. Her stories and characters are not dated either. The heroines are equal in wit, intelligence and capabilities to the heroes. Also stories can be very humorous.

Susan Napier

Intense, well developed characters, sharp wit and original plots define her work. Sweet Vixen, the Counterfeit Secretary and Mistress of the Groom are some of my favorites.
