The conditions needed for fire rainbow to form are quite rare. The ice crystals must be in horizontal line and sun must reflect back from them, which turns the whole cloud into rainbow colored flame shaped phenomenon.

It is a breathtaking scene to see these massive clouds. However it is not known why or how are they formed, but they are mostly associated with thunderstorms.

For a brief moment before the sunrise and sunset there is a possibility to see green light on top of the sun. Chances of seeing this amazing phenomenon are highest on the sea.

In parts of California it has been found that right from the beginning of a nocturnal cooling period, air in valley floors can remain colder than that on the upper slopes, and that downward moving air caused by katabatic drainage cannot penetrate the denser air in the lowest part of the valley, and remains above it. www.whatisguide.net
