Large area to walk and lot species to see (many of the on the red list) in "natural" environement. Bravo to all guys who helped to save this zoo 10 years ago when Prague was flooded out. Entry only for 8 € for an adult. Definitively my favorite one.

Bioparc Valencia Report Abuse
It's by far the best zoo I have ever been to. Opened just a few years ago and it houses only african animals, but WHAT a collection and a setting. When walking around the zoo you can almost forget that you are in the middle of a large european city and not in africa. There are no walls and cages, it's all wáter moats and glasses and has a fantastic collection of african flora. Don't miss the central savanna exibit, the crocodile and hippo cave and the lémur island!! Negative point: a bit expensive, but still worth it.

To put Copenhagen ZOO as low as #11 is a big mistake.. A massive effort have been made to recreate the animals natural habitats and the animals are fed in a natual way also. #2 in Europe after Berlin ZOO imho.

There is a pretty cool Arctic World where you can watch polar bears and seals swim under water. And its the only zoo in Europe to have Tasmanian devils! Funny enough you get a great view of Norman Fosters designer elephant habitat from the park next to the zoo - for free

Great city zoo, although some enclosures aren't to great for the animals. One of the best reptile houses of Europe. Great Subantarctic penguin enclosure. Nice Nocturnal house. Lots of history to be found here too. Biggest con; big cat enclosures

Tierpark Hellabrunn Munich Report Abuse
The Munich Zoo Hellabrunn was founded in 1911 as the first Geo-zoo worldwide. The animals live according to their geographic distribution in complex communities. If you follow the icons you will travel around the world and experience our different habitats. Hellabrunn is not a zoo in the classical sense. It is more of a nature preserve within the landscape conservation area of the Isar meadows inhabited by animals that live in especially large, structured enclosures. Thanks to an extensive array of ditches and a natural landscape design, the visitor can enjoy the wonderful and unobstructed view of animals that could normally only be obtained on safari.

It is quite small and peaceful zoo, which isn't located far from city center. It also has a mindblowing collection of butterflies, which are kept in the butterfly house.

Quite possibly the worst zoo in a developed European country and easily the worst in the Netherlands. Many exhibit are excactly the same as in 1910 and unfortunately the welfare and enrichment is therefore the same. The butterfly house is one of the few good things.
